Scottish player transfers

Would have loved to see Gauld  either be called up in some friendly games or do what Landon Donovan use to do from the MLS a 6 month loan on the Prem and show how good he is, interestingly designated player in the MLS is not always amazing there are some great players but most are at the end of their careers, lots of players well into their 30s, Johnny Russell is still one.

Also Jordan Holsgrove is pretty much having a similar career path Estoril are now in the portugese league cup final.

Udinese apparently looking to sign Porteous. It would be great to have him playing in a top division from a psychological point of view. But this would also be fantastic for his development, playing in a league that specialises in defending.

Pretty sure there was talk of interest from Udinese at the start of the season too.

Yeah a lot of the designated players are older and signed for their high profile. I guess a direct comparison is Insigne who Toronto signed in 2022 (and has been out performed by Gauld). But he’s obviously still a very good player, the season he signed he had 11 goals and 9 assists for Napoli.

Holsgrove should be a guy Clarke is watching. Doesn’t seem as if he’s a star player for them though and there’s lots of Scottish players ahead of him in that position.

More links about Shankland signing for Rangers. Although I am generally appalled at the frequency at which they play Scots, this seems like a good move. (if he gets a game).

Other than staying at Hearts, this is probably the option that is most likely to maintain his scoring streak. If he grabs another 10 goals or so by the end of the season, he might even force his way into a few starts for Scotland.

Calvin Ramsey has joined Bolton for the reminder of the season on loan.

Thats a good move, he will get game time and he will experience some pressure with them pushing for automatic qualification.

Bit of a shame he’s had to drop down to league 1 to get a game but hopefully he’s better off next season for it

Similar with Lewis Fiorini going to league 1 just to get games behind them after having injury problems.

Also just seen Dundee maybe resigning Jon Mccracken on loan from Norwich, had a very good loan in league 2 before getting injured at Accrington Stanley.

McCracken Will be 24 in may & has played only about a dozen low level first team matches, doesn't sound like anyone we should be getting too excited about.

The other young Scottish keeper on Norwich books Archie Mair who is younger than McCracken  & playing on loan at Morecambe seems a much better prospect at this stage.

Scott Mckenna is off to join FC Copenhagen not a transfer I expected.

Looks like they only have five league games to play? Not sure if that's right?

Still in with a chance of winning the title though.

I think they have a split after March and the top teams play each other for the title.

I cannot see it being a loan deal as Forest will get nothing from it as by the time the loan deal ends McKenna will be a free agent.

Unless part of the deal is Copenhagen pay McKenna's wages for the duration of the loan. That way he'll be saving Forest money as he'll be off their wage bill.

Either way, I reckon it's a good move for him.

Sky reporting it as a loan deal for McKenna. Suppose it means he can go get minutes whilst keeping his options open for the summer when his contract is up

Yes the main thing is he gets matches under his belt. If he does well I am sure Copenhagen will look to make the deal permanent.
