Hopefully Caddis gets a chance too, still feel Shinnie should have been the one drafted in, doesn’t say much if he’s not even back-up to Whittiker never mind ahead of him! Yup, Shinnie thoroughly deserves a chance. He's been Aberdeen's POTY without doubt and i'd say only behind Griffiths in the country. He's versatile, composed on the ball, a fine passer of the ball, tenacious in the tackle and can run all day. He's the Scottish Phillip Lahm

His justification for not calling up McCormack initially was that he "already knows what he can do". I was just highlighting that Strachan was havering pish. It can get tiresome when you have to explain these things.

tjm007
Bizarre comments from Mark McGhee regarding Tony Watt being unfit. Why on earth has he been rewarded with a call up if he isn't prepared to do the graft ? Sets a shocking example IMHO - if the state of him wasn't known then that is even more bizarre. Mark McGhee shouldn't be allowed to talk to the press whilst representing Scotland IMO. Almost every time the national team meet up he is wheeled out to the press and almost always says something daft or cringe worthy. I can see what he's trying to do with Tony Watt but it comes across wrong and he just makes it sound like they haven't done their homework and now regret calling him up. I certainly wouldn't be motivated by that comment if I was Watt.

MikeyGC
Steven Fletcher will not travel with the squad to Czech Republic due to illness. Suppose this is a good thing, meaning another striker will get an opportunity to prove themselves.
runningtings
That means Watt has to be a starter with McCormack to come on. I am OK with that, he might offer something a bit more direct than Fletcher.
jailender
If Watt and McCormack dropped out, we could play our normal Prague formation !!
Peedie
McCormack wont be called up unless he is guaranteed a start, He has a family and is nearing his 30's, how many times is he going to travel all over europe for meaningless games and sit on the bench. Everyone knows what he can do as a footballer which is why when Naismith pulled out he will come in and I bet he will start, however he wont start ahead of our best players such as fletcher and naisy etc. The other baffling call ups are just so WGS can see some new players and see if anyone is better than what he already knows he has got, he explained it all. The only one I don't understand is Forrest, I pressume it is just because his game is to beat a player and we don't have many players like that, again WGS explained this. er yir macaroon
Pretty sure Watt will start upfront with McCormack as one of the three in behind, along with Snodgrass and one other.
Fraser19
Aye it's possible. Although it may hinder ourself throughout the game as we don't have any other forwards in the squad to bring on as a substitute. Fatigue way settlel in or a injury may occur. Plus watt hasn't played consistently for Blackburn therefore I think he will come on as a "impact" player. A striker with twenty five caps and just two goals against FIFA recognised opposition. That's not good.
Return of Yermaw
BBC say that Marshall has dropped out but Maloney and Whittaker have been called up as cover. Was Whittaker not named in both squads originally?? Anyway good opportunity for Strachan to see what these two can bring to the table. Edit: am assuming squad cover rather than goalkeeper cover particularly re Maloney. Edited March 27, 2016 by Return of Yermaw
aaid
Whitaker was in both squads. He withdrew from the Czech squad as his partner was going to give birth.
ErsatzThistle
Scott Bain is listed by the BBC as taking Marshall's place in the squad to play Denmark. Wouldn't mind him getting the second half to show what he can do. Good young keeper.

If he were a centre half or a right back however...........
