Craig Brown said that his idea on developing players taken from the French ended up being blocked due to fears of Scottish fitba clubs struggling in Europe.

What has happened since then?

I remember France doing this, after they failed to qualify for italia 90. Look at what they have done since. Huge population France so would it work for us. Possibly as there are two many below standard foreigners in the SPFL, especially at the old firm.

I thought his plan for qualifying was to be always drawn against pishy countries like estonia and scraping by them two nil, then failing miserably once we had more than one average team in our group.

Oh to have those days back. Euro 96, 3 goals conceded in qualyfing. World Cup 98, 3 goals conceded in qualyfing and 2 of them away to Sweeden.

Frustrating and depressing reading about Brown's plans being blocked. But why should we be surprised at Rangers and Celtic being disinterested? Murray and McCann only gave a about themselves and to hell with the greater good of the game.

Fear of failure in Europe? Whatever happened to Rangers in the Champions League when they threw stupid money at the likes of the Geordie wife beater, Laudrup, Boli, etc? Ironic thing is that Rangers best ever foray in the Champions League was when they had a Scottish spine in Goram, Robertson, McCall, Gough, Ferguson, McCoist etc. Even McSwegan and Nisbet!

Having ####wits like Murray having a say in our game was to the utter detriment to the Scottish game.

Yes scoring goals in obviously important but what that Brown stat highlights which I think Strachan isn't paying attention to is what Ireland done....not conceding is of equal importance!! Instead of us trying to play pretty football, Strachan needs to get us solid at the back!! Look how little gosls Ireland let in. Keeping clean sheets gives you such a chance, kamikaze you score 2 we'll score 3 type of play unless you Brazil Germany or Spain is suicidal

Any club in the Championship down should only have Scottish players - no Welsh or Irish or Northern Irish or English players.

Them countries have got their own leagues. We don't need shìt British journeymen failures clogging up our leagues.

All lower league players should be Scottish.

Every team should have at least 4 under 21 players too.

In the premier division, Celtic should be allowed 2 foreigners and all other clubs banned from having foreigners.

In theory that's a cracking idea but legally it's impossible I'm afraid and without turning this into a political argument under current employment law there is a freedom of work and movement EU law. If the sfa or anyone else tried to implement this the legal backlash would be horrendous sorry to piss on the parade

True, that would be illegal as suggested. What wouldn't be illegal is having a rule in place that says any player playing in the league must have been trained in Scotland for three years prior to turning, for instance, 21. This is essentially the rule that Uefa have put in place for their competitions and this has been deemed (thus far at least) not to contravene the freedom of work principles of the EU.

Why brant grebner thinks it would ever be acceptable to have a different rule for a single team than the rest is baffling though. It is exactly this viewpoint that has caused all the problems with Rangers - have rules and apply them equally and fairly to all teams.
