Great turnout at Edinburgh today. Braw weather too. Bit slippy at points. Still trying to work off the festivities and a little slower than normal.

And other than parkrun, if there's no medal, I'm out.

You will miss a lot of great runs then I suspect

Seeing as I skipped Parkrun this morning due to the fact I was meant to have a game this afternoon and didn't feel I'd have enough in the tank for both, I've just been and done it now since the game went off.

Recorded my 3rd quickest time over the Aberdeen course (only the 3rd sub 24 minute run) and finished 13 seconds off my PB.

I guess I should be glad I didn't break my PB in an unofficial run.

I went for my first run since the end of November on Friday. I had done a triathlon end of November and afterwards I just lost motivation for a few weeks and then Christmas hit and I really lost any motivation I had.

Friday's 5k was interesting, the run itself felt fine but afterwards I felt awful. Clearly the festive period hasn't been kind on my fitness.

I'm looking for some runs to enter in February/March time, 10ks or 5ks really. There are no triathlons I can enter until April and I fancy having something to aim for over the next month or two.

Any recommendations?

Where are you based?

Parkruns all over the country every saturday morning. Good for a timed 5k and it can be as competitive as you want it to be.

Here is a list of stuff in March

I really don't see the point in 5km races. I've done one parkrun, when I was unfit.

Now I'm fit, a 5k seems like a waste of time. Plus, 10am is a pain of a start time. I'm normally finished my longer run before then.

I really enjoy my Parkruns, granted mine are 9am on a Saturday, not 10. I don't see them as a race, more a social training run that's become a weekly tradition, race-wise I go for 10km or more.

That's even more pointless! You'll barely sweating at the end unless you really go for it!

Which parkrun starts at 10am? All the Scottish ones state at 9.30 I thought.

I used to think 5k was a waste of time but it really isn't. Great for working up your speed. Also parkrun is a great start to a Saturday it keeps you out of the pub and gets up up and going and leaves plenty of the day to do other stuff

Parkrun is also a great motivator and social experience. I swear by it now. My weekends are shit if they don't incku one.

The one time I done the Falkirk one it was 10am. Might have changed now?

Saturday mornings are when I normally do my longer runs, so a 5k just seems a waste.

Each to their own, I'm not interested in socialising, I've got enough pals

I have my football pals, my political pals, my running pals and others with some overlap but it is great to chat about running with fellow runners. This year has been really good for meeting lots of new people because of the referendum and parkrun and chatting with people who have a particular shared interest is great.

I do my long runs on Sundays so Saturday's are ideal for a short fast run :)

Have I managed to get myself evicted from any potential pigeon hole above over the last few runs?
