It's going to take more than a group of SNP MP's begging for corporation tax to be devolved to influence Labour

There was a real anti cut anti austerity option for Tommy to back in TUSC, but he fancied a wee ego trip instead.

But surely he is looking at the longer term picture. The SNP are the only vehicle to independence and independence is the only real hope for Socialism to get a strong foothold back into Scottish politics. (Which i would love to see by the way!)

I and many others voted Yes as we were convinced the positive progressive attitude of the referendum could be used to defeat the SNP in the first Scottish General Election. The rise of the SNP has muted my support for independence, and depending on how the SLP get on in Holyrood elections next year it could be killed off completely.

Socialism will be no easier to achieve in an independent Scotland than it is under the British system.

Surely no FPTP or House of Lords would make your aim easier to achieve in an iScotland?

Maybe the people just don't want socialism.

I don't agree with that at all. I think far more of the Scottish electorate who want independence are on the left than you would imagine. Under Westminster governance...........zero chance of socialism getting any type of voice.

I made no comment on the SNP or Sturgeon's performance.

I was embarrassed for Ed listening to that closing speech: "you me outside now" :lol:and his statement that we needed to make a judgement call but refusing to say how much they would cut and where the cuts would be was utterly ridiculous - how the heck to you make a judgement call when you have no idea what their plans are.

He is so fake when he talks to the camera. You honestly think that was a good performance by Ed - if you do you really disappoint me. The man is so false. He tries to make it sound like it come from the heart but it just looks like he has had bad acting lessons. I see nothing genuine or from the heart there.

The SNP supporters are happy to spew the parties anti-austerity message for Westminster... Conveniently forgetting that the SNP are very much an austerity party in Holyrood, where they are government.

But whipped to a line which is what the SNP believe to be best for Scotland, rather than to the Labour line which would be either whatever benefits the UK as a whole/London and the SE, depending on your level of cynicism. Surely you can see how that can seem an attractive option?

I don't think I've labeled anyone's opinion as nonsense. I do remember saying Sturgeon was spouting nonsense.

You're interpretation of the SNP's whip is flawed in my opinion. It prevents an Aberdeen MP speaking out if party line is detrimental to their constituents under the threat of disciplinary action.

In your opinion. In my opinion you're wrong.

The 'British route to Socialism' is the most widely accepted manifesto and plausible route for Socialism in the UK today. The SSP attempted to write one for an iScotland and it was rightly mocked by all, even the Yes supporting left.

Nicola - Delivered a performance that will appeal to her supporters. Personally I find the SNP's "Westminster austerity is heinous, but our austerity is just" angle absolutely nauseating.

Bennett - Awful as always.

Woods - Solid enough, doubt she'll make much of a dent in Labours hold on Wales, which is a shame as I truly believe that Plaid are the party that SNP supporters think their party is.
