I suppose having been out injured for so long craig might just be happy to be playing games every week at this point. Fingers crossed he stays at Celtic, cos I'd rather he was playing. Not suggesting for a minute that Gordon is skint, but remember he did have two years out of the game and not earning between leaving Sunderland and joining Celtic. While I've no doubt he is on a decent salary at Celtic, I doubt he got much - if anything - of a signing on fee. He's 34 now and this would represent a final big pay day. He'll be on a decent wage - in excess of whatever he is on at Celtic - and will get a signing on fee. On the other side - unless Courtois gets injured - then he will be limited to playing League and FA cup games and possibly some of the more straightforwards Champions League games and his International career will be effectively over. A big decision for him, you can see both sides.

His career almost ended a few seasons ago but he's thankfully back playing again, so why would he want to decide to end it himself ? He'll have been on good money for the last 10 years so I don't think that would be a strong argument compared to being able to play again. I guess it'll all come down to terms on offer. 18 months left on his contract, will he be offered another one by Celtic once that expires? If not them what are his options. I guess a lot hinges on whether or not he feels he's earned enough and/or achieved enough from football. If his main objective is to play as much as possible then he should stay put, if he wants to make as much money as he can then he should move. I'm guessing at his age and his career almost ending, he'll want to keep playing and I'm also guessing he has enough money to retire for the rest of his life (for most people). If he doesn't get kept on at Celtic in 18 months, then he could probably still play for any other Scottish club (possibly Hearts ?)
Parklife
Double his wages, get an EPL winners medal, outside chance of a champions league medal, play for one of Europe's best sides. Or stay at Celtic? Hard choice...

Easy choice IMO.

Not really, because he's actually part of the team winning games rather than sitting on the bench for 2 years counting cash.
ErsatzThistle
Both Chelsea's keepers, Courtois and Begovic, have been linked with moves away but of course it seems unlikely that they would sign Gordon to be their number one keeper. Didn't Gordon say that a few years ago when he was unattached he turned down a seven figure insurance settlement if he formally retired ? But it's playing and for goalkeepers that often means doing nothing for large parts of the game. Your second line is just you wanting to disagree with anything anyone says. You know perfectly well what I meant.

You said it "would all be meaningless" as he'd be back up. I'm disagreeing with that, not "anything anyone says". I'm sorry that my opinion doesn't match yours...
