deecie
Am I right in saying you boys are the current champs at under 20's? Many of last years team still involved? Yeh, champions, but I think the only player left from last year is actually Barry Robson. They've all left for pastures new, except the permanently benched Cammy Smith. He'll be good when he signs for Dundee.
TartanJon
It is true but it's about the lesser of two evils, if you aren't going to play a player then it's better to to let him leave and pay them a part of their wages than having sitting about doing f*ck all and paying them all their wages. That's nuts!! I didn't realise it went on with players who have left and officially signed for someone else,I honestly thought once you had left for pastures new (not a loan) then they would be picking up the wage bill. If it's true about Muscat then he received £892,538 after he left Rangers ,taking into account what he was paid in his season there he got £43710 per game...TAX ####IN FREE AS WELL

sbcmfc
Must be part of incentives to make transfers happen perhaps? Edit to say not sure how that would apply to ex managers though. I think your 1st question could be the answer to your 2nd. I've yet to hear a better explanation....

sbcmfc
Does the Souness payment happen to perchance coincide with the transfer of Boumsong to Newcastle while Souness was in charge there?Ferguson and Tugay to Blackburn fit the timeframe.Having said that, although with hindsight Ferguson wasn't the best value due to injury/homesickness, I wouldn't say they paid over the odds for either. Tugay did pretty well at Blackburn. It does seem really suspicious to me, but there's no obvious link to an inflated transfer fee that I can see... ShedTA
Does the Souness payment happen to perchance coincide with the transfer of Boumsong to Newcastle while Souness was in charge there? No reason why it would have to coincide exactly. Everything is flexible...

Scotunited
Nicky sumerbee was paid for 3 years after he left man city for Sunderland - I think. It was, a good bit in the book fathers, sons and football. Apparently his was due 170.000 and wanted paid 70.000 right away but the then city chairman - Francis lee? Offered to pay up the full amount over 3 years !

Offered to pay up the full amount over 3 years ! This is often why you see players refusing to hand in transfer requests. They have clauses in their contracts which mean they either get lump sum 'loyalty' payments if they leave without requesting a move, or they continue to get paid if the contract is terminated 'by mutual consent'
Louch
I can understand it happening in loan deals but ffs surely that can't be true It's quite common Say a player is at man city on 200k pw for 4 years After a year they want to sell him, but new club only willing to pay him 150k pw. Player doesnt want to drop 50k pw, but City dont want him, so agree to pay him 50k pw for next 3 years, so they save 150k pw to get him out the door. Those who it's a mystery to obviously don't play a lot of football manager !

For something like this it is better if it does not coincide. Given that the payment was made something like three years before either Souness went to Newcastle or Boumsong joined/left Rangers then it would be a remarkable bit of foresight from all parties if the 2 things were in any way linked and I think we can see from the way events have unfolded that foresight is something that was severely lacking. Debian
The best game ever - www.champman0102.co.uk/ By signing Falkirk's Mark Kerr, you were surefire to romp the league prior to Barcelona or Real Madrid firing in a £15m bid for the Scottish wonderkid. Fairbarin given what else went on at the club under David Murrays watch I wouldnt put it beyond the realms of possibility for it to be very closely linked. A one off EBT payment to souness when he wasnt even an employee of the club is pretty dodgy.
