Lamia
Yep and once again the media are playing along. Surely can't be worse than the whyte fiasco but I can't see it as all that good either. I am as astonished as Johann Lamont!

RenfrewBlue
To get rid of Ashley they are probably going to have to find close on £20 million what with the loans and commercial deal.Is it feasible they can do this given the huge outlay needed on the team and club? Otherwise, if they decide to hold fire on paying him off he can immediately appoint two board members while strangling cash flow through his retail deal.Only £5m to pay off the loans or they could just outnumber the 2 appointees of Ashley at any vote. As they'll control the board they can ensure his guys don't actually get any role within the club thereby killing his influence. The commercial deals are the most worrying as they could cost the club money. Perhaps a deal can be struck, as Ashley is a business man who like to make money. Either way I doubt we'd need £20m to get shot of him.

EddardStark
Hell I would even have The Plinth, Phart and Scunnered on the board if it meant getting rid of the current regime.

Parklife
Can King and Ashley not work together for the greater good ?If the "greater good" means Mike Ashley's bank balance, then Ashley would probably be happy to do that.
Fairbairn
Yep and once again the media are playing along. Surely can't be worse than the whyte fiasco but I can't see it as all that good either. Are they or is that just what people want to think and aren't actually reading what is being printed. Even Jackson is in the Record this morning saying King has a challenge ahead of him, not least proving to the SFA that he's "fit and proper and not a glib and shameless liar". I'e seen plenty of articles from the likes of Tom English and Richard Wilson saying similar.

I know they haven't got answers like that from Ashley but then Ashley doesn't court the press.

Scunnered
So what is the wide scale support based on? sbcmfc
Rangers don't need a war chest. Very few players move for money at the level Rangers will (should?) be working at. They will need money of course, but not a war chest.
Scunnered
£5M won't even tickle the sides....... I think that's above and beyond running costs, building a casino, and giving Ibrox a retractable roof/pitch.

ibelieve!!!
£5M would just about pay off the management team... Am I the only one who thinks there's a (small) chance that they might "walk away" without payoff when the board changes?

thplinth
I thought I read that the loan agreement gave Ashley the right to appoint two board members. edit: yeah I did. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/11305642/Mike-Ashley-refuses-to-blink-as-Derek-Llambias-is-made-chief-executive-at-Rangers.html So King & Co will have to lend RFC the money to pay off Ashley if they want to get rid of them. Or allow him to appoint 2 other board members. As I've stated earlier I'm sure part of the plan must include paying Ashley back his £5M. I know they haven't got answers like that from Ashley but then Ashley doesn't court the press. To be fair to king he did an hour long press conference where he answered questions about his plans. That was a couple of weeks ago when it still wasn't clear the outcome of the egm.
