northernscum
I hate this fascination with having to give random things a "catchy name". Is it supposed to make it a wee bit more exciting? Will it mean Sky news doing a 24 hr rolling news update, nah, because it's hitting the West coast of Scotland not the South coast of England. It's a storm, that's it. Pishing rain and blowing a hoolie. (As storms tend to do to varying degrees) Edited December 9, 2014 by northernscum
Kittymeister
It's going to be a wee bit wet and a wee bit windy. There may even be some snow Not that unusual for Scotland in December.

Kittymeister
The question is whether the weather will be a storm in a tea cup or whether there will be a storm to weather.

Hoolie is a perfectly acceptable Scottish descriptive term for wind exceeding 17.8mph

Coldo
BBC referring to the storm as a "weather bomb" because the BBC don't know how to talk about anything unless it relates to war or terrorism.
