tomtscotland
To be honest some of it did make me feel a bit uncomfortable not in a Nuremberg way more in a cultish one I was at Hydro an it was quite emotional at times.I think I see what you are getting at re "cultish" but I don't think it can be compared to a cult. The rise of the SNP is clearly an after effect of the grass roots political engagement during the referendum. What we are seeing is a social movement for change and a large part of it is seeing the SNP as the vehicle and means to achieve change - so it is not a cult. Alex Salmond did get a fantastic reception, similar to what a cult leader could expect, but I think folks just want to show their appreciation. Oh I know I just thought the way it was presented could at times make it appear this way. I actually felt it a few times at the Conference in Perth especially when they got some new members to speak some of whom had come from the Labour Party. It was a bit like a "I have seen the light" moment with the audience welcoming the new disciples
