Passes away aged 86 after sufferering with Dementia like his late brother Jack

Arguably the greatest ever player for both Manchester Utd and England

Leaves only King Denis of the formidable trio with us although he too is suffering from Dementia

Remarkably made his first team debut at Dens Park losing 5-1 to Dundee in a friendly. RIP

One of his last games would have been at Dens as well. He played for Preston North End against a Dundee team with a very young Gordon Strachan.

Sadly I’m just about old enough to remember him in tears in the studio ahead of Scotlands final group game against Holland in Argentina ‘78. He was genuinely upset at how the tournament had gone for us and felt for our players and the pressure they were under.
An absolute legend of a player and an all round nice guy!

RIP 🥲
