Parklife
I'm having flashbacks to before we played wales and there was that boy on here claiming joe Allen was one of the best midfielders in the world Indeed. Seamus Coleman is a decent EPL full-back. No more. For folk to think he is on the level of Ivanovic or Zabaleta is ridiculous.
ianp
Coleman would be a stick on if he was available for us

Is it? Why? Highest scoring defender in PL last year. More goals than the likes of Mata, Walcott, lampard and Naismith. Whilst playing for the team with the 3rd best defensive record in league. Consistently Everton's best player.

dipped flake
Mccarthy has played for us for our U-17's , U-18's , U-19's , U-21's and has 24 caps for our senior side.....u need to stop deluding urself that he isnt committed to Ireland my friend. If he is fit....then he will play. cheers for that, didn't have a clue he had played so many. He was definitely in 2 minds about playing for the full squad at first though but that's all in the past now. Real pity as I think he is a great player
Argentina78
Whole lot of negative comparisons and rubbish getting spouted by both sides here! The bottom line is this, McCarthy and McGeady wanted to play for Ireland, they will get stick in this game as theyd expect! It's gonna be a cracking tie, which us SCOTS want and need to win, but it's gonna be tight and let's see a terrific game, let's welcome and share cameradey with the Irish fans and hopefully cheer Scotland and Gordon Strachans troops onto a win and 3 points! Whilst playing for the team with the 3rd best defensive record in league. Consistently Everton's best player. Sorry, why are you judging a defender on goals scored? It is, of course, great to have a good attacking full-back who is a threat but it's not the most important part of his game. Everton were a defensively sound team last year and Coleman is a good player. How's their defence this year? 2nd worst in the EPL. I think Zabaleta is a far superior player to him though. His positioning is consistently excellent and his tackles normally well measured. His final ball in attacking areas is normally of a high standard (6 assists last year, to Colemans 2). Ivanovic is better than both. His power and strength is a huge asset in defence, he's never caught out of position. His aerial prowess is a great advantage in both boxes. He's one of the most consistent players around too. I don't think Coleman is in either of those twos league. Differences of opinion are excellent though I could've went with the Irish boys on heres argument that Ivanovic and Zabaleta must be better as they play for better teams than Coleman

Differences of opinion are excellent though I could've went with the Irish boys on heres argument that Ivanovic and Zabaleta must be better as they play for better teams than Coleman I wasn't judging him purely on goals scored hence why I went on to say he scored them whilst playing in the 3rd best defence in the league. This season has been a disaster defensively for Everton right enough but Coleman has been injured for a fair bit of the season, and the reason for the dramatic down turn is jagileka doesn't have distin beside him to cover his numerous mistakes per game. I don't think Coleman will be at Everton long. Think he has another big move in him. I do agree that ivanovic is a superb full back as well. Better defensively than Coleman by far but Coleman is more of a threat going forward. But as you say it's all about opinions.

Green_Tide_Rising
I'm having flashbacks to before we played wales and there was that boy on here claiming joe Allen was one of the best midfielders in the world Thank God we aint Wales ...I guess As for Coleman - excellent going forward and a very good defender with a lot of POTENTIAL But needs to improve certain aspects of his defensive game - he has a fierce habit of dwindling on the ball sometimes when we are under pressure instead of clearing it and it bloody wrecks my head when he does it!! Orraloon
Anyone know where you can buy inflatable tatties? That could be quite funny. I'm sure we could sneak a few real tatties though the security checks though. We could lob them onto the pitch at half time? We would be better to save that for Dublin though. 1320lichtie
You should've given up as you clearly struggle with reading. I said not many better in the world thus conceding he ain't the best in the world for those hard of thinking, i.e your good self clearly. I think he is better than all 4 listed however very close to ivanovic and zabaleta in terms of effectiveness. If you need help reading this I'm sure there is a helpful adult nearby You also said 'certainly no better in English Prem league, not many in world' I just gave you 4 better fullbacks at the top 2 clubs. Haha! Colemans a very good premier league right back. That's it. He'd get a game for us, I'd be pleased but I wouldn't be overly fussed about it. To say what you have or to say he's a class above the squads is truly outstanding. Well done. Edited October 23, 2014 by 1320lichtie
