There's definitely flaws in the seeding system.

Motherwell are rewarded for topping the group with an away tie at Ross county. Hibs scrape through and get Ayr at home.

Dundee united reward for topping the group is an away draw to the runners up.

Rangers get a home draw [end of statement]

So why seed them?

Seeding introduces bias to the draw.

True. The quarter finals aren't seeded.

It does mean performing well in the group stages gives you an advantage of being a seed, also to those teams who did well last year and qualified for Europe. Teams with the best group stage record geta seeded place which gives them an incentive to try and win all games and not lie down in last game when the group is already won.

Ross County didn't do well enough to earn a seeded place. As there are only 4 seeded places from the group's then premiership teams will often be unseeded.

Ayr though won all their games so deserved a seeded place. Just happens they drew Hibs who didn't do well enough to earn a seeded place.

I get how it works.

Its just a shame Ayr for example weren't rewarded with a friendlier draw, there's an Irony in the draw for Hibs and Dundee united.

Maybe a bit harsh. A soulless "stadium" with one wee stand and nothing else. Dreadful pitch too. In an absolute tip of an area of town.

Doesn't your team play in Parkhead, one of the most deprived areas in the UK?

The huns still haven't won a cup in their current guise so can't say I'm too fussed about it .

Watching 25k of them leaving Hampden absolutely spewing is preferable and more enjoyable than a smaller away support  anyway

Suppose...if you're someone who likes to believe in conspiracy theories.

I like to believe that Rangers randomly never get an away cup tie.

Nothing random about it.

They're the establishment team and by all intents and purposes, broke.

Them being in financial straights guarantees a fixed draw.

So, when two balls were left if United had lost the game they'd have been given the home draw.  That's funny.

They'll claim that it's 2 different things.

- that firstly, the seedings only guarantee that the top 8 won't be drawn against each other and that the bottom 8 won't be drawn against each other.

- and that secondly, every team has a 50/50 chance of being drawn home/away

It's also difficult for a team when they drop to the 15th seed only because of an unsuccessfully converted penalty though.

If the 1st seed played the 16th seed, the 2nd seed played the 15th seed, and so on, then the teams around 8th and 9th would face a similar scenario IMHO (in the sense that not much would be separating them).

It's Killie's first away draw since 2008. We are the mini Huns right enough...

It does and it's a magnificent arena.

Good stadium in an absolute hovel of an area.

Need to walk to St Lukes to find a decent boozer and even then it's bang slap in the middle of IRA town. Sorry I mean the Gallowgate.
