Guest allyc
Also notice there is a youngster called Hamish Machairysporran causing a stir at Wisbech town.He is being looked at by a number of premier league clubs, with the FA looking at fast tracking him into the England squad ahead of their next qualifier.Surely with a name like that the SFA should be looking at him to find out his background too. ErsatzThistle
I hope our chap Scout doesn't ever ask someone of Caribbean origin with a surname like Campbell, Fraser, Grant, MacDonald, MacGregor, Mackenzie etc "so was your granda Scottish then ?". It could result in a trip to A&E.

Scout
Ok you guys must be really happy with the Scotland centre backs ?? Id be looking everywhere to sort that problem area out For the record another player we don't look at Cairney at Fulham Newcastle interested in but Fulhams price would make him the most expensive Scottish player ever fact

Until then it's not .

The price paid for a player represents that player's value within the market at the time and the price the buying team is prepared to pay, nothing more, nothing less. It has no direct bearing on that player's ability, or their ranking against comparable players. Paul Scholes was one of, if not the, best English players of his generation and never attracted a transfer fee. Was there not a guy at Birmingham from same period who also had a similar over the top/stereotypical sounding Scottish name that was constantly linked with a call up, but unlike McSporran actually had some links? That's the guy.... think Vogts sounded him out, but lead to nothing, then his name would resurface under Eck and Burley from time to time. Scout
Ok Hanley is the man???maybe greer or Danny Wilson or Hanlon point taken - don't try and better the team ?We're all happy at being professional losers ?
Regenmann
Er, what's stereotypically Scottish about 'McSheffrey'? It's an Irish surname.

My comment was meant as slightly tongue in cheek.... he just had one of those names and played at a time where we were desperate that people said "he has a Scottish sounding name, get him in the squad!" andyD
I mentioned Angus MacDonald a month or so ago in jest because of his name (he also scored an OG that weekend, if i remember) . He was Born in Winchester and it seems like Barnsley is as far north as he's been in his life. As far as I'm aware he has no eligible heritage, so not really worth mentioning at this point. ProudScot
Collins John (Ex Fulham striker) must be eligible (Despite his Holland caps). Get him, McSporran, McSheffrey and Brian McFadden from Westlife in the next squad Gord.
