Noticed Angus Macdonald has been getting a lot of good reviews -centre back that plays for Barnsley he's 24 played for England 16& 18 and c team but surely with a name like that his dad or grandad is Scottish says could be in line for a big move.

hope the SFA have been in touch yo find out his back ground.

Also notice there is a youngster called Hamish Machairysporran causing a stir at Wisbech town.He is being looked at by a number of premier league clubs, with the FA looking at fast tracking him into the England squad ahead of their next qualifier.Surely with a name like that the SFA should be looking at him to find out his background too.

With every post you make I am becoming more and more convinced that you are Mark McGhee.

Ok you guys must be really happy with the Scotland centre backs ??

Id be looking everywhere to sort that problem area out

For the record another player we don't look at Cairney at Fulham Newcastle interested in but Fulhams price would make him the most expensive Scottish player ever fact

It'll be a fact if he's sold at that price. Until then it's not .

So what.

The price paid for a player represents that player's value within the market at the time and the price the buying team is prepared to pay, nothing more, nothing less.

It has no direct bearing on that player's ability, or their ranking against comparable players.

Paul Scholes was one of, if not the, best English players of his generation and never attracted a transfer fee.

I remember a few years backs when Jermaine McSporran broke through at Wycombe Wanderers a few people on here were touting him for a call up.

Was there not a guy at Birmingham from same period who also had a similar over the top/stereotypical sounding Scottish name that was constantly linked with a call up, but unlike McSporran actually had some links?

Er, what's stereotypically Scottish about 'McSheffrey'? It's an Irish surname.

My comment was meant as slightly tongue in cheek.... he just had one of those names and played at a time where we were desperate that people said "he has a Scottish sounding name, get him in the squad!"

I mentioned Angus MacDonald a month or so ago in jest because of his name (he also scored an OG that weekend, if i remember) .

He was Born in Winchester and it seems like Barnsley is as far north as he's been in his life. As far as I'm aware he has no eligible heritage, so not really worth mentioning at this point.
