Bristolhibby
If your transitting at all in Turkey with any sort if stopover you need a Turkish one!!! Really? I'm staying airside and no mention of a visa. Not sure why there would be. Not actually clearing immigration. Always remember the mad dash at some ungodly time arriving in Turkey on holiday, dashing to get the sticker, then joining another line to clear immigration. Jagtag
If your transitting at all in Turkey with any sort iof stopover you need a Turkish one!!! I went to Skopje via Istanbul and didn't need a visa to change flights there.
deecie
Turkish visa is very easy. Fill in an online form, give them $10 and its issued on the spot. Azerbaijan less so. My passport photo was rejected for being a 'selfie'. It also cost 80 and hasn't arrived in the fortnight since applying.

wanderer
Sure it was mentioned on here a while back that the system has changed recently and it's more in line with the Yanks system of all done online and prepaid before you set off for Turkey

DoonTheSlope
I've got a 5 hour stopover in Turkey on the Asian side and wondered how long it would take to get through passport/visa procedure as i wouldn't mind a wee bus trip into the centre then back again

Like popping into London from Gatwick. I'd be clock watching wanting to head back the minute I got into the city, also is all the cultural stuff (blue mosque, grand bazar) not the European side of the Bosphrous? DeeRus
If you are a transit passenger then no visa required. If going landside then you must apply online for your visa - dead easy to do and confirmed instantly. Is valid something like up to 180 days from the date of application/issuance, so you can complete it anytime from now and you'll be covered
mariokempes56
Istanbul is 1 huge and 2 pretty mental to get around. So unless you have loads of time plan it well. Amazing city but a couple of hours isn't a lot. Just my view from bing there on work a few years back.

Hopefully there'll be something close by to do for a few hours as We have a 5or6 hour wait on the Sunday at Gatwick so don't want to spend any more time than we have to just kicking about airports

Huge city, traffic can be mental and as the previous poster said, all the sites are on the European side of the Bosphorus.
