deecie
What luck would that be? Drawing the world champions and losing our two best players to injury before playing them. Have draw the world champions twice in qualifiers since 2006(Italy,Germany) then got to the euros and drew the world champions again. You must be referring to those two great, late goals we scored against Georgia and Germany, please explain how a last minute goal is any luckier than a first minute one. If anything we are due abit of luck. We've drawn the World Champions 3 times since 2006. A last minute goal is luckier as it gives the opposition around 88 minutes less to score afterwards. Lucky Irish.
Angus_Young
That won't happen for many a year though,by which time we may have the 'whole country' back. Seriously mate. Glue is bad for you, leave it alone!!
Green_Tide_Rising
wouldn't be surprised if mcCarthy is 'injured' for this one as he doesn't really seem committed to the Irish cause IMO. McGeady will get dogs abuse if he plays Mccarthy has played for us for our U-17's , U-18's , U-19's , U-21's and has 24 caps for our senior side.....u need to stop deluding urself that he isnt committed to Ireland my friend. If he is fit....then he will play.

Gala Tartan Army (Borders)
My pal is a big Everton fan, says McGeady has been poor for them this season. McCarthy looks good though but I rarely think about either if them in terms of Scotland losing out. Made their decision, let's concentrate on our guys who are proud to pull on the dark blue. Squirrelhumper
The Scots could learn alot from the Irish, like how to get their Independence, we had to fight for ours, you lot couldn't tick a box. . Leinster should be playing Scotland next November as its hardly fair that the whole nation of Ireland has to play against a province of Britain. James and Aiden, Real players, for a real country. There's aspects of irish history I'm glad we've not got. Edited October 22, 2014 by Squirrelhumper
Faddyman
I heard the seats in the away end of parkhead are going to be replaced with barstools to make the visiting fans feel right at home

Orraloon
I have a feeling that Scotland and Ireland will share the points over the 2 games. It would be better for both teams if we got 3 points each rather than 2 though. We should come to a gentleman's agreement. Ireland let us win the first game and then we will let them win the second. usainboltyarocket
Both are good players who would be playing for us if they chose Scotland. Dint agree with the grandparent rule but every country has used it at some point so no complaints from me.

1320lichtie
Have to stick up for the Irish boys here. Coleman. As someone who watches Everton all the time I can honestly say think Hutton at his Italy best in 2007 and you are nearly there. He is a brilliant attacking fullback. Certainly no better in English prem league. Not many in the world. Mcgeady. As much as I hate his descision to play for Ireland would be a first pick for us. He is better, considerably so, than any other wide player available to us. McCarthy vs brown is actually a close one. Both cracking players. He is a real loss to our side but brown at his best would keep him out a Scotland side. I used to rage at his decision to play for Ireland but I've subsequently learnt a few things about the circumstances behind it, non SFA related. I am certain he actually wanted to play for us. He won't be "fit" for the game at parkhead. Mark my words. Both players are sad loses to the Scottish international side and both would greatly improve the strength in our squad. No question. I nearly gave up this board after reading that. Coleman the best right back in the world? OYF. Where would you rate him out of: Coleman, Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Sagna, Zabaleta? He's no even the 4th best full back at the top 2 EPL clubs FFS. What an absolute load of shite.

You should've given up as you clearly struggle with reading. I said not many better in the world thus conceding he ain't the best in the world for those hard of thinking, i.e your good self clearly. I think he is better than all 4 listed however very close to ivanovic and zabaleta in terms of effectiveness. If you need help reading this I'm sure there is a helpful adult nearby
jimstroma
Wasn't my intention when starting the thread but some people just can't resist cheap digs for whatever reason. You started a thread about 2 of Irelands best players, who happen to be born and bred in Scotland to Scottish parents. Don't think Irish fans would welcome any Irish born players who chose another country. Personally I believe they were misled at youth level and if they played in the 70s or 80s they would not even consider Ireland if they were good enough for Scotland. The majority of Scotland fans will boo them IMO

girvanTA
McGeady over rated at Celtic and always has been. Hes the type of player that can produce a bit of magic but very seldom does. McCarthy really good player with bags of potential, will he be looking forward to a battle with Brown? No chance!
