bonzo Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Why have england defied the odds by getting to the semis? They've only played Argentina, Fiji in the quarters and they nearly blew that.

Orraloon Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Thank fuk for that. GIRFUY you arrogant English fukers. 🤣 These fukin arrogant commentators sometimes bring out the worst in me. 🤣

daviebee Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Gave up on the game at 15-6 then saw a text update that it was 15-13 so switched the TV back on just in time. Got to say that was funny as fck! 🤣

Which was around about the same time that the commentators were starting to get really cocky. 🤣 Almost switched it off myself.
Caledonian Craig Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 What makes me fume is commentators and pundits all enraged about the South Africa penalty decision and how unlucky England were. Are they for real? They should have tried being drawn into a group befitting their world ranking ie getting Ireland and South Africa. When the failings of the draw were talked about the English pundits tended to have no sympathy and say it is what it is. No sympathy therefore for their complaints now.

They don't half love to wax lyrical and ramp up their grandiose clichés about heroes etc. At halftime Jonny Wilkinson talking about 'chess rugby' 🙄 Fed up hearing the catchyphrase "leaving it all on the pitch" across various commentaries. Once you notice these things it's a twitchy watch!
Hertsscot Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 So England finished 3rd. Only their most delusional fans will think there's any success in that.

They finished exactly where every english rugby fan I know expected them to finish based on the draw. I haven't met any who think they are there for any other reason than the draw they got. I'd also add that they ran the Boks bloody close and if they had finished as winners in that game they would have deserved the win. That scrum at the end could have and arguably should have gone in their favour

StirlingEgg Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Final has spiced up a bit now. Felt a bit flat at first, perhaps with seemingly looong tournament and not too bothered who wins.

Rugby is a great sport when you've got two closely matched teams like that. I still the referees have too much of an influence over the outcome though. Roll on 2027, at least with the move to 24 teams we won't get drawn in another outrageous group.

They will delay the draw until March 2026 by which time we will have picked up two 6 Nations wooden spoons, and sunk to 13th in the rankings. 🤣
