Thplinth is basically right i think. And i think the SNP high-command know it too, which is why they compromised on their strictly anti-Brexit position and voted for a form of Brexit which kept the UK in the Single Market during the indicative votes. They know by keeping the UK in the Single Market, they eliminate this issue.

No, just prouder...or something. It's a pissing contest basically. Doesn't matter what your country's quality of life is like, it's how big your total (not per capita) GDP is. Britnat-o-nomics, init bruv? We won 2 world wars and 1 world cup, don't ye know?

Yeah, cheers man, you just ruined my point to him. 😁 Its a number, without added context it means bugger all. Something he doesnt seem to understand, we are mid table in the EU economies in real terms, certainly nothing to be proud about.

They wont lose the £63 billion if we continue to buy their exports - thats the point They could take the oil and gas tax receipts hit but not losing £63 billion trade with that deficit

Ally Bongo
As an aside i was thinking of taking Friday off to sit up as the results came in then noticed there wasnt any election specials on tv Thats because the results, even the UK's, are not announced till Sunday - WTF is that about ? As another aside Can anyone think of what Scotland exports to the RUK that nobody else in Europe is interested in that would explain the discrepancy of what we export to the UK and the EU ? bonny78
Britain is also often used to refer to Great Britain, which covers the countries of England, Wales and Scotland. No. The UK is a country, of which Britain is the largest part. The United Kingdom of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, is a nation So the Uk is a country. It is because the EU elections are across the whole EU and other countries vote on different days including Saturday. They are not allowed to start the count until all the countries have voted. Presumably because how the first countries vote could influence later elections.

Most Scottish seafood goes to continental Europe rather than domestic markets. There will be anomalies like this but I think in general it's just that more of the same stuff is exported to the rUK than the EU.
