EddardStark
If Nicola Sturgeon gets the job he may be a distraction. Will he be in the Governments senior team?
Guest flumax
No, gives him a chance to pop up and spout things unacceptable for front line cabinet to say, or make vows and promises he has no authority over a la Gordon Brown. Seemingly the most powerful people are retired leaders, snoozing on back benches.
runningtings
He'll be an elder statesman in the parliament, and able to offer advice behind the scenes where necessary. Would be a loss for him to walk away entirely.
Toepoke
I think he could do a job back at Westminster, that's where a lot of the SNP's focus will need to be next year to negotiate the best deal for Scotland...
giblet
Love the thought of Alex sitting in Westminster picking them apart.
Armchair Bob
SNP MPs are going to need a thick skin in the coming year or so. The amount of abuse they are going to get from their honourable fellow MPs is going to be horrendous.
jailender
I think if you're an MP, you would tend to be fairly thick-skinned anyway. Most of them aren't exactly shrinking violets

Armchair Bob
Yeah, Winnie was treated apallingly. If SNP MPs want to be left alone, all they need to do is start hanging out with Eric Joyce MP in Westminster bars.

scoobydoo
He should resign as an msp, contest a byelection in england and if he doesn't win stand in the ge next year. Most of them aren't exactly shrinking violets From what I can gather from speaking to various MPs etc some of the SNP guys are actually quite well-liked, for example Mike Weir, Stewart Hosie and Eilidh ????. Others, however, such as Pete Wishart, are widely disliked. I wonder why?

ShedTA
Alex Salmond as a back bench MSP will be a nightmare for the Unionist Parties, it will be Salmond unleashed. aye exactly. he is much freer now to really tear into the opposition if they dont deliver. probably one of the reasons he stepped down. Sturgeon can lead diplomatically and he can get really dirty if he needs to.
