I'm just back from Ohrid after having a great time in 2008. Fantastic holiday. Friendly folk, amazing history, great food and cheap booze... 70 quid return from Luton to Ohrid 1st to 5th. 2 hour drive. If I was a Don I'd be getting it booked up now!

A seven year holiday?! :-))

I was only in Skopje about 6 hours.

After the game we had 4 pizzas and 12-16 beers between the 4 of us and the bill was 40.

If that was the tourist price, the real price would've been very cheap!

There were some locals got on our bus when we pulled up near the stadium, I presume they wanted money or a fight, but we just got off the bus and think they realised they were t getting either.

Would love to go back to Skopje..... 2008 was a good trip, but 2013 I think blew that out of the water (first TA trip in a looooooooooong time to have that proper old school TA trip feel to it!).

First time around it was the Marmite effect.... you either loved or hated the place, and think that put a awful lot of people off going back 2nd time around (plus fact game was all but meaningless).

Armenia and Yerevan looks fantastic, but sod of a place to get to last minute.... saying that though, its kicking off out there just now after police went on the offensive when folk started protesting in the streets about the government raising energy prices.

If Aberdeen can get past KF Shkëndija a trip to Rijeka in July would be excellent - I used to go on family holidays to Crikvenica (about an hour's journey along the coast) back in the 80s when it was still Yugoslavia. Great beaches and resorts all along the Adriatic coastline and Rijeka itself is pretty decent too. :ok:

When we were in Macedonia the first time 16 of my mates from Dunbar contacted the same travel agent as I did to get them digs. He didn't get them anything in Skopje but got them a hotel in Tetovo, promising them it was the "party city of Macedonia". It wasn't.

I saw them on the day of the game, they said locals were less than welcoming.

We also went to pick them up on the morning after the game as we were all heading back by mini-bus to Thessaloniki together. That was a mini-bus that was supposed to actually be a private taxi, but was an 18 seater mini-bus....for 19 people in total.

My last memory of Macedonia was the cops pulling our bus at 9 in the morning and trying to extort 900 from our bus driver. Who thankfully had the local mafia on speed dial and got them on the phone to speak to the police who then let us on our way.

All of the above sums up Macedonia for me, good luck any Dons who are going.

I was one of the 16 and I think that we were stuck in a place called Kumonvo, though I could be mistaken.

On the Friday night the locals came down to the main square to mingle and you could tell that 16 Scotsman in kilts were the last thing they wanted see or socialise with.

In saying that I enjoyed the trip even if you are just seen as a walking cash machine.

Agreed I thought 2013 was fantastic. Genuinely surprised to read people have ran into difficulties there. I would hope any club side heading there now would have a similar experience.

Do not think for a while yet (Armenian cup final was only a few weeks ago...football fan I have agreed to meet in Yerevan was sending me photos from it).

Nobody picking up on this.

Wanderer, you've surely changed location on Tinder and got some Armenian meat ready to fire in to you. ??

Gellions bar in Inverness are chartering a plane for our game. Can't see us getting past Astra though.

Wee Jill Macdonald still work in that place? Wee redhead lassie. She was the biggest Jags fan I knew. Her Dad was a right Thistle man before the merge.

Aye Rossy, it's going to be a kind of eerie atmosphere with I reckon round about 1000 fans in a 33000 seater stadium. Can't see anything more than 100 Dons fans making it.

Just looking at flights from Eindhoven to Skopje with Wizz Air, back on the Friday to Brussels.... E 150.... hmmm.
