Menschlich
No matter what the situation is or how bad the economy is, for some fools socialism and state-control of people is always the answer.

Menschlich
Aye because capitalism and neo liberal politics is working out brilliant eh? Don't know who's proposing socialism anyway. Actually it's the other way around. We don't have capitalism. We have government spending as 45% of GDP (a bad measure anyway that hides the fact that our economy is very indebted and isn't as productive as we think) and a messed up mix of the state and banking. We need banking and monetary form and a move from violence (i.e. the state) to the private choices and interactions of individuals. Many countries are making the opposite move that most of the left want us to do. Look at China moving towards a less statist society. biffer
NO to socialism and YES to smaller government. That mantra has worked really well in the states right enough.
phart
I think in our current form, any sort of large scale enterprise to govern is going to fail or be incomplete due to the nature of our species. I've only seen these sort of things work in small scale, tribes, st Kilda before the evacuation. The vast majority of our existence has been in small groups therefore we have biological adaptions suited to that. Not that we shouldn't try to sort it, i just feel this isn't taken into account when formulating theories, hard to blame anyone really i cant conjure up a solution myself.
