Toepoke
Zeppelin ripped off so much stuff (did a good job with it right enough). I don't know if any of the original artists ever got a credit off them?...
Grim Jim
Depends how old your vinyl is. Willie Dixon's name appears more often on newer pressings.

the Sunnylaw Jag
I've just discovered that the Thistle song "Oh Maryhill is Wonderful" is not an original tune apparently it's really based on a song called 'Oh When the Saints Go Marching In". I'm now going to check out other football songs to see if other songs have been ripped off in this manner.
Broon2
Check out this version with a 50 second intro... Excellent Scotty, I knew the original but the 50 second intro was new to me....... THIS is a GREAT thread
Toepoke
Knew the Rod Stewart version of this well, no surprise it wasn't his song but I never realised it was by two Paisley lads until I went to Gerry Rafferty's tribute gig...

sonofoi
I have part of the drum kit they recorded that song on in my shed. Or so I'm told, I was given it by one of their myriad former bass players who was clearing out his spare room. It's totally gubbed right enough. Good piece of punk rock memorabilia! Still going strong the exploited! Great band! Can you mind who the bass player was?

arbroath55
Went to see this a few weeks ago http://beautifulmusical.co.uk/ and was amazed at how many songs Carole King wrote that were turned into hits by others. Good show
Toepoke
Another couple from Get It On that I thought were Elvis Costello originals. Even great songwriters need a break I suppose...

Hertsscot
I feel really thick I've only just found out Whole Wide World by the Proclaimers was done by Reckless Eric and now I've found out it was done by The Monkees. Somebody's bound to tell me that was a cover as well.

Toepoke
This thread keeps giving. Had Radio 2 on in the car earlier and this came on, I'd only ever heard the Groove Armada version...
