  14. I have often believed that the 'away ' support moved in cycles. if the major tournaments Italy, France etc are placed to one side, as they will always attract numbers ( if the younger posters don't know - they do - your time will come ). looking at the away support over the years, I have found that large numbers of younger folk are attracted and enjoy it, will go regular for a number of years and then reduce in numbers as they get married / partner up / have children. Their obligations change, time constraints, money is a factor etc a number of years later they come back and enjoy it. This will have an impact on the way the STC / SSC numbering is driven up. Of course, there are many who are constants but the 'churn' within the SSC is high. In the absence of major tournament qualification many will question the value and benefit relationship if they are not travelling following the team. The SSC has been 'fortunate' in recent times that a couple of 'appealing' matches are there to validate membership at renewal time or encourage new membership for those younger folk starting out on the cycle. At Wembley for example I saw far more 'younger fans' than I have seen at an away game since, well, probably the last time we played them.
  15. Malta – Scottish Supporters Bus Parking Those fans who were in Malta for the Italy game will know that there were some issues with parking at the Stadium. Recognising this ATAC have been liaising with the SFA security officer on parking for Scottish supporters buses. Only official coaches – Team, SFA officials and Media will park in official car park at the stadium. Other coaches will be routed to park adjacent to the National Park a short walk from the stadium. ( we hope to circulate a map on Thursday following a security meeting). However, ALL persons arranging travel by coach or mini bus for Scottish fans should contact their bus or tour operator with the request that they contact the Maltese FA who will issue them with a PASS and specific instructions on where they should park. The Maltese FA would prefer to have the requests by Thursday. If you know of anyone organising transport please pass this message to them. Parking is very restricted in the vicinity of the stadium, it will be dark when leaving the stadium and the area is very poorly lit, therefore it is requested that all organisers and convenors accept the assistance of the Maltese FA and follow the instructions of officials and local police around the stadium. 20. I am not a prolific poster by any measure, but I am on the board fairly regularly- at least viewing, usually in Travel or TA Specific. I believe the board is like the support in general, folk come and go, it's actually amazing if I think back say 10 years and then five years and compare to present day- the number of folk who were regulars home and away, who are no longer seen at games. There will be a host of reasons for this. There are of course many who are constants, there are many like me who go back 30+ years. Folk give up, get fed up, come back, go away, come back, use other forms of social media, see the same arguments come up, see the same opposition come up, moan, greet, laugh, p!ss off, come back, go away...it's just the way it is. I have had a drink with many on here, would have a drink with all , might only be the one mind
  21. Have a look at the ATAC / SFA meetings notes posted elsewhere on the Tamb
  22. I strongly recommend a visit to the museum and also the tour. It is a fascinating morning / afternoon for any Scottush football fan at club or international level. There can be a lot of reading, both within the displays and on the boards that are positioned throughout. The tour obviously includes the dressing rooms and pitch side, but the under south stand roadway can be a surprise to some. If you can , ask your guide go show you the auditorium, not always possible, but it's a great example of why the stadium achieved five star status. The Hampden cafe is just along from the museum, inside, anyone can visit and there is a lot of photos and info on the walls. Enter Hampden through the main doors ( always a thrill ) tell reception you are going to the cafe, walk to the left, down the stairs, follow the signs, it's a Costa, however I believe the prices are lower than the High St, if not , I always find them very reasonable, depending on the time of day you will always find something to eat, sandwiches, soup, cakes etc. you can always ask for a pass out from the museum to break it up a bit, the museum is not huge, but as stated earlier there can be a lot of reading. The staff in the museum are superb and very accommodating. Don't forget your camera! Broon.
