Charlie Endell
Cake made by a young Delia Smith btw... Great piece of trivia - great album as well (part of the greatest winning run by any band - Beggars to Exile). Charlie Endell
Not sure about best but most iconic must be pink Floyd's dark side of the moon. Surely?

DonnyTJS
That takes some beating. Gruppo Sportivo brought a nascent Euro-pop sensibility to the late-'70s New Wave, which seemed quite a good idea at the time ... beep beep love
Bobster
Some good choices there Charlie. I'd have posted Ogdens too. Let it Bleed and London Calling were turned into stamps a few years ago. I think I preferred The Stones Sticky Fingers cover though. Have always liked Peter Blake's work. Bought one of his original screenprints a few years ago. Superb colours. Best known for this: Also did this. One of my favourite albums too. Peter Saville did some interesting stuff at the time. Also, I have to post this one. I've got all bar three (Tubular Bells, the Floyd one and the second from left on the top row) of the albums that featured on stamps.

I'm picking up one tomorrow from the post office, can't compare getting an LP home and playing it to a cd or download
Stapes
Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned: Or for a less well known one, Barney Bubbles' cover for Graham Parker's Parkerilla:
