Neither were prolific for Scotland but at club level McCoist wins by miles.

True, but they both scored - I think - 19 goals for Scotland. Arguably Miller's tally is more impressive because he played in poorer Scotland sides and usually up front by himself. TDYER63
Watching Netherlands Austria last night and felt Austria are generally very like ourselves. Plenty of possession but doing very little with it. The optimistic part is that we pulled off a draw and 2 goals against Netherlands only 2 weeks ago. Absolutely nothing to say we cannot do the same against England in a one off game if we play with the same passion.

Plus listen to English pundits and there are nerves about their defence so its not all bullet-proof for them. Croatia were very disappointing against them and were toothless in attack but England only won 1-0.
Toepoke
Interesting stat on Off The Ball earlier. Our two previous wins at a Euros:- 3-0 v CIS - 18th June 1992 1-0 v Switzerland - 18th June 1996

exile
Reasons for optimism? England may be daunting, but it could be worse. Imagine facing Italy in Rome, Spain in Seville or Germany in Munich. It would be hard to imagine getting anything out of those games, far less winning. When did we last win or even draw in those countries in a competitive game? And facing Croatia at home is surely not as daunting as, say, Russia or Denmark away? The two games left are there for the taking.
Taylor1996
A top drawer performance. If we take this into Tuesday, with the same passion and no little skill, and hopefully a goal or two, we will progress out of the group. All of the players were magnificent. Special praise for O'Donnell (who looked like a right sided Andy Robertson) for rebounding after the Czech match.
