Can I count the fact that we put Raith Rovers out when we won the cup in 1987?

They didn't play Motherwell in 1991, but Stevie Kirk is from Fife, so that's basically the same....

Rossy
I get the feeling that Hearts are a bit like Aberdeen under McGhee. Scraping a win from time to time, but generally utterly clueless and destined for failure. It would have been better for them to lose last night, because Hibs could well take 5 off them in the next round.

Never say never about an Edinburgh derby, but that's as close to a 'no chance' as you'll get. We may well get a real skelping off Celtic at the weekend though. Hearts looked chaotic against Aberdeen, and toothless and panicked against the Rovers in the 2nd half on Sunday. I don't know how they played last night. Hibs are playing well and with confidence, and frankly they've got better players and are a much better team than Hearts just now. If they get a quick goal, Hearts could collapse. Hearts best chance, is that Hibs Hibs-it.
Pool Q
We were on course to win fairly comfortably last night until Souttar gifted Raith a goal in the second half. Not particularly good but more than enough in the end and decent performances from several players. We are starting from a very low point (the performance against Aberdeen was woeful, and we were lucky in the end to get a replay on Sunday) but some progress has been made. You overestimate Hibs in my view and my feeling is that we'll be quite a bit better by the time the cup game comes around. None of the new players on Sunday were fully match fit and it showed in the second half. They ran out of steam, and we had nothing much on the bench to replace them. All of them looked better last night (both in terms of sharpness and settling into the team and the pace of Scottish football) and I think might well turn out to be good signings. There are a couple to follow, if rumours are to be believed; Nicholson and Buaben will be fully fit in a week or two (neither was last night); Djoum (and Rheras) will be back too. Jury is still out on Cathro for me, but it is very early days. Wishful thinking for those predicting a big Hibs win. Always a tough game to call but my money will be on a lot of blood and snotters and then, when the dust has settled, a narrow Hearts win. Although maybe it is me that is indulging in wishful thinking.

In the game Raith actually started fairly well, and we were poor in the first twenty minutes, but for all that their first goal was a hopeful long range shot that took a big deflection. From then on Hearts pretty much bossed the game and should have won it in the 90 minutes. I appreciate any Raith fans that were there may have a different take on this. Pool Q
I'd have to say that having spoken to a number of friends and colleagues during the morning who were also at the game last night, I appear to be in a minority of one and very much the majority view is that we (Hearts) were utter shite last night. I thought that initially, but then the statement of "on course to win fairly comfortably until that point" didn't really make sense to me since they had only had a lead for a hanful of minutes and the game was in extra time. giblet
Being a cup tie in a derby, game could go either way, think Hearts have added well to their squad recently.
