Bristolhibby
TBH it's nothing different from what Labour (and the Tories) have been saying all along. As far as I'm aware it's - Labour = 4 boat continuous deterrent at sea. Conservative = 4 boat continuous deterrent at sea. Lib Dems = have a look at the options but sees the need for a deterrent. SNP = No to Nuclear weapons Greens = No to Nuclear weapons UKIP = 4 boat continuous deterrent at sea. Maq
Anybody care to translate? They build the subs in Barrow, don't they? He's saying, Labour will renew Trident, and if they don't he'll resign his position as MP?
aaid
They build the subs in Barrow, don't they? He's saying, Labour will renew Trident, and if they don't he'll resign his position as MP? Bit of an empty gesture as if they don't renew, he'll get voted out and given its Barrow probably run out of town as well.

Flure
They build the subs in Barrow, don't they? He's saying, Labour will renew Trident, and if they don't he'll resign his position as MP? Yes. It's also lucrative business for the Plate Mill in Motherwell and the Quench and Temper plant in Cambuslang.
Dalmahoy
Cutting up the 30(ish) scrap nuclear subs tied up at Rosyth and Plymouth will keep Barrow busy for a good while.

teecee-
Barrow is a town that relies heavily on one employer which happens to construct submarines. Probably similar to Helensburgh in outlook to Trident. "Yes in my back yard".

MacWalka
Hope Mr Woodcock wasn't watching This Week, Portillo just spoke out against the renewal of Trident Again! He's spoke out a few times over the years since losing his seat. Doubt he would have said that when he was Defence Minister though.
