Robroysboy
Program about robert the bruce and his venture into ireland after his victory at bannockburn. Trailer looked quite good. The 700th anniversary event for bannockburn was excellent last year. My 4 year old boy wants to go again this year. Lol
the_burger
Will tune into this. I think one of the Bruce's brothers was killed in the Irish campaign. And Scotland had more or less subjugated much of Northern England at the time

Dave78
This was shown on Irish telly a few weeks ago (except it was renamed 'After Braveheart'). Got around to watching the second part last night. Excellent programme, well worth watching.

thewelk
This was shown on Irish telly a few weeks ago (except it was renamed 'After Braveheart'). The british media turned 'braveheart' into an insult during the referendum.
ParisInAKilt
The british media turned 'braveheart' into an insult during the referendum. Didn't Mel Gibson do that?

Dave78
The british media turned 'braveheart' into an insult during the referendum. I did wonder why RTE (who co-produced the programme) decided to change the name, and realised most of the Irish audience wouldn't know what Bannockburn was, but would have heard of Braveheart. Robroysboy
excellent programme. Absolute disgrace how little of our own Country's history is taught in schools. too much focus on the battle of britain and hastings 1066. I got none of this at school. Our history educaction, was heavy into 1800's, the corn laws, the birth of industrialisation then onto post world war 1 politics. ErsatzThistle
I got none of this at school. Our history educaction, was heavy into 1800's, the corn laws, the birth of industrialisation then onto post world war 1 politics. I'd have gladly had that any day over what we studied in high school, Medieval history. It was enough to melt your brain. The first three crusades, the fecking boring as hell feudal system and the Medieval Church. It was soul destroying bollocks. Never found it interesting in the slightest. gracie
Im 31 and was taught about the scottish wars of independencein high school. I had a great great history teacher, she would ask the bams about 1690 and king billy, she would take the piss out of them
Toepoke
We got a load of Scottish history at school, especially primary. My teacher used to bring her guitar in and sing us Corries songs. Ah the super 70s...
