Dunno how Scunnered puts up with it

I'm not bothered about it. Wine Bibbler, Orraloon are good people, Auld Reekie as well. It's the thick as blinded by nationalism ones I can't be arsed with.

If I started a new thread to highlight the SNP and their members willingness to use Social media to spread lies, I'd have the usual ####wits screaming "Can't help but have a dig at the SNP". This thread is topical.

Well, 11 hours ? and 2 pages later it would have made a viable topic on its own, even if it was the same people saying the same things... :whistling:

Still, if Dougie is Googling himself on social media he may be disturbed to find the thread is not about himself after all!

At least it's not an echo chamber of angry grieving SNP supporters. at least, not all of it!

That doesn't necessarily mean that she wasn't using a London based company, just that she has no evidence that that's the case.

Well i'm no genius ,but, if we start believing things that there is no evidence for, that might not be a good starting axiom on which to build ones knowledge base.

Just my own opinion like.

What would you suggest the Socialists of North Ayrshire and Arran do?

Raise funds for a SSP candidate to run, and then help campaign for them?

I do have sympathy for your situation*, and think you should always vote for a candidate you believe in (which it sounds like you've found with Katy Clark). But personally, I'd really struggle to vote Labour - especially in Scotland!

* I live in the West Midlands, and my options at the moment are Labour, Tory, Lib Dem, UKIP..... and that's pretty much it! The Green Party haven't even said they'll run a candidate here yet, as they're struggling to raise the funding

So in short - Scunnered is voting for Katy Clark as there is no proof that she used a London tele marketing company and overlooking everything else there is proof for with regards to liebour ?

It appears that that Katy Clark is just a convenient excuse for Scunnered and his Labour leanings

She might be the socialist option but her beliefs are certainly not that of her party and is therefore a fraud

SSP decided not to field a candidate as they didn't want to split the socialist vote for Katy.

Is there any particular reason why she is not a member of, and therefore standing as, an SSP candidate?

She's very much of the Skinner breed of Labour and as such is a committee member of the Labour Left group who attempt to mobilise the Labour Movement and influence Labour Party policy, in fairness they have had more influence on policy under Miliband than in the last decade altogether. She's a Marxist, if she were to join any other party I imagine it would be the Communist Party of Great Britain.

I don't know anything about Katy Clark but if she is a socialist then she is clearly in the wrong party. You should try to persuade her to leave the Labour party and stand as an independent socialist. That would be the honest thing to do.

A very rare, if not unique standpoint within the Labour party nowadays. Although I fully understand why you would want to back her as an individual with her vision of how the Labour party should act, I doubt she would have any influence at all on party policy matters.

I am not one of the blind faith SNP voters who agree with everything the party stands for, in the past I have voted for SNP, Labour and Lib Dems at various points. I see myself as far more of an all round Socialist than any of the major parties but in the meantime I see the SNP as the only vehicle to maintain the independence issue and to build on the momentum gained in the last couple of years.

In your opinion. There is a visible left wing element to the Labour Party, an element that Katy is a part of... An integral part of. It's shunned by much of the party establishment, but it's there.

Right now there is a section of members within the SNP that are trying to establish such a group, it's also being fought aggressively by party establishment. These people should be encouraged, as should the Labour equivalent.
