wanderer
Ian McColl.............some exiting football played under him!! Look at the average of goals for and against during his reign! Craig Brown record is pretty impressive..... Jim Leighton to thank for that I am sure, but shocked we scored so many goals under him (only large wins of note I can recall are a couple of games we put 5 past the Faroes and San Marino) especially when he used to go on and on about not having a striker to pick from who would score every game. Grumpyauldgit
Ian McColl.............some exiting football played under him!! Look at the average of goals for and against during his reign! He must have liked playing attacking football, as his teams, put 6 past Norway, Northern Ireland, and Spain in the fecking Bernabau, and scored another 5 twice against Northern Ireland. McToot
I really hope we can keep Strachan, and like others don't see him being tempted away. But if he was, perhaps Committee would be available. Has a fairly solid record at this level!

ProudScot
Somebody wanted the competitive stats, so here we go again by the way my ideal of a competitive match is any game or tournament, with a cup at the end of it, so home internationals, kirin and carling cup games are included Rnk Manager G Win Lost Drawn G/F G/A Pts Win % 1 Ian McColl 20 14 5 1 54 38 43 70 2 Alex McLeish 8 5 3 0 12 9 15 62.5 3 Tommy Docherty 10 6 2 2 14 6 20 60 4 Committee 191 108 43 40 460 245 364 56.54450262 5 Craig Brown 50 27 10 13 70 35 94 54 6 Walter Smith 13 7 3 3 22 9 24 53.84615385 7 Gordon Strachan 10 5 4 1 11 11 16 50 8 Willie Ormond 25 12 7 6 35 24 42 48 9 Ally McLeod 12 5 3 4 19 14 19 41.66666667 10 Jock Stein 56 23 21 12 71 66 81 41.07142857 11 Andy Roxburgh 44 17 14 13 51 45 64 38.63636364 12 Berti Vogts 13 5 4 4 14 16 19 38.46153846 13 George Burley 8 3 4 1 6 11 10 37.5 14 Bobby Brown 23 8 9 6 35 31 30 34.7826087 15 Craig Levein 15 5 6 4 17 16 19 33.33333333 16 Alex Ferguson 6 1 3 2 4 5 5 16.66666667 17 Andy Beattie 8 1 5 2 8 17 5 12.5 Seems we should Sack Strachan and immediately appoint this manager "Committee". Is he Brazilian or does he refer to himself by one name like Seal? Either way lets get him in, with Billy Stark (100%) record as his number 2... Surely a winning combination? davew
stats can show you whatever you want, but are not a true reflection. I would say that is a much more true reflection. Make up your mind. Stats are just numbers, they can't show you whatever you want. You just need to put a bit of work into them like GAG did above and you get a true reflection. LOL meant to say stats like the first set put up are not a true reflection.... as one manager might have won a lot more freindly matches than qualifiers..... yet when you take out the friendlies and base it only on qualifiers and world cup and euro finals (personally I would not count things like the Home Nations, Kirin or Celtic Cup), you get a more true reflection with the games that really mattered, with that sorting out the true legends from the duds. Orraloon
Craig Levein is ranked higher than Andy Roxburgh?? Got to say that surprises me. !9 draws though - the Roxburgh trade mark.

Tommy Doc was the first manager who was allowed to pick the team.

Jacques Hunt
WGS has too much integrity to leave us soon. He has done brilliantly as has the squad under his leadership and I think he believes he can take us even further. However, surely Herr Vogts is most successful Scotland manager this century having taken us further in major competition than any other. Vs Holland in Euro play off.
