scottishedgar
The u21s is only to prepare players for full international football. Would rather see someone given a chance in the full squad than held back for a "big" u21 qualifier. As PASTA mick said it like the squad to be made up of the 16/17 potential players v poland then filled with newbies
ScottyAlba
Agree about Fraser. Seen him a few times for Ipswich, playing well at the moment

John_B81
I wonder if Ryan Fraser might be worth including, particularly with an eye on the Gibraltar match. He's a player in form so he's got to be worth an inclusion though I suspect he'll remain in the Under 21's for now.
g@un
Surely Rhodes has to be included again as a reward for his recent run of goals? Ideal for the Gibraltar game and possibly the last 15-20 minutes against Poland if an assault at goal is required. Happy about Shinnie being considered as he has looked very good in the few Aberdeen games that I have seen on the box. Let's wait and see I suppose, not long now... Grim Jim
Gordon Strachan has named his 27-player squad for the final two UEFA European Championship Qualifiers against Poland and Gibraltar next month. Aberdeen full-back Graeme Shinnie has been handed a maiden call-up after starring for the Scottish Premiership leaders this season. There also returns for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Kevin MacDonald and Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes - who has scored 5 goals in his last 4 games, Scotland team to play Poland and Gibraltar Craig Gordon (Celtic) David Marshall (Cardiff City) Allan McGregor (Hull City) Christophe Berra (Ipswich Town) Gordon Greer (Brighton & Hove Albion) Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rover) Alan Hutton (Aston Villa) Russell Martin (Norwich City) Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic) Andrew Robertson (Hull City) Graeme Shinnie (Aberdeen) Steven Whittaker (Norwich City) Ikechi Anya (Watford) Scott Brown (Celtic) Darren Fletcher (West Brom) James Forrest (Celtic) Shaun Maloney (Hull City) James Morrison (West Brom) James McArthur (Crystal Palace) Kevin MacDonald (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth AFC) Johnny Russell (Derby County) Steven Fletcher (Sunderland) Leigh Griffiths (Celtic) Chris Martin (Derby) Steven Naismith (Everton) Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers)
nelbo009
Pleased with the squad overall, although I do have to question the continual inclusion of Forrest. Good to see Shinnie & Rhodes in. Not entirely sure what McCormack has to do for a call-up either - would rather him than Martin. Playing devil's advocate, should Morrison be included given he's suspended for Poland, or could we have used the squad place for another player? Dorrans, maybe? Bardsley (another I think should be in)? Cairney, as suggested earlier? Maybe even Jack or Fraser?
Toepoke
27 man team??? Should give us a chance...
John_B81
Shinnie fully deserves his call up, glad Rhodes is back in. Not sure about McDonald, Arfield would've been more deserving imo.

braveheart_lynch
Not particularly a fan of Forrest but for a young player who has had a lot of injury problems I think he gets some unfair criticism at times. He's a young player with potential. I had similar doubts about Shaun Maloney performing for Scotland and he is now one of our best players. g@un
Please with that. MacDonald is a bit unknown to me. Remember him scoring a couple against Man City for Burnley a few years back and getting raved about. From what I can gather he is a very steady presence in the Wolves midfield. I would agree about McCormack, he must be sick of these squad announcements. Haven't seen anything from Martin to justify his place.

Bardsley (another I think should be in)? Cairney, as suggested earlier? Maybe even Jack or Fraser? Sounds stupid but Morrison probably called up because, should we make the play offs, he would play in both legs. Similar stance with Mulgrew who apparently is a doubt for next weeks games? By being involved this time round and participating in training sessions, set piece rituals etc. they would (or should) have the edge over a player who hasn't been called up for these games. We all know Strachans view on familiarity in the squad!! I cant see Bardsley getting back in the set up any time soon. I don't think he is near the team at Stoke and Strachan wouldnt be impressed with his casino & Wayne Rooney knock-out incidents. McCormack and Dorrans can consider themselves unlucky. Cairney is a great player that seems to go under the radar as well. Overall I am pleased with the squad... good to see Shinnie getting the recognition he deserves and we're always more likely to score goals when Rhodes is included. John_B81
He's dead to me. Can't stick him either after the way he left us after a handful of games but he's been playing well enough to merit talks of a call up.
yekimevol
Going off this squad I would be happy to see this starting eleven; my main gripe is Maloney must be played in the middle not out wide as he's not quick enough and in the middle he can roam the pitch making a influence. McGregor Whittaker Martin Greer Robertson Naismith McArther Fletcher Anya Maloney Rhodes
Argentina78
Much as expected but I'd still have had McCormack and Matt Philips in the squad I still think Mulgrew will be out due to injury Edited September 29, 2015 by Argentina78
