Can they be done for 'Breach of the peace' given the reaction it gets? There are comedians out there that get paid ridiculous sums of money and they regularly slag off disabled people and cancer victims and yet nowt happens. Huddersfield Posted March 2, 2015 Share Posted March 2, 2015 I'm not sure what the law on this looks like in Scotland but there's an argument that the crime would be related to harassment law (behaviour designed to cause nuisance, alarm or distress or words to that effect). Again knowledge based on the law in England but he'd probably be looking at a suspended sentence at worst or more likely a community order. It's all to easy to find evidence of the online nonsense. Not sure how the law round it works but I thought they were updating it to enable the police to cope.
