davew
Plenty of decent players without any superstars. Much like our squad. decent-ish players The list of on-form EPL players is about 4 Marc Wilson (Stoke City), Seamus Coleman (Everton), James McCarthy (Everton), Glenn Whelan (Stoke City), I think, on paper at least, we have a slightly stronger squad

Apart from Coleman and Robbie Keane, there is no one I am envious of. Not even McCarthy or McGreedy. I think on paper we have more football in us but wee bit worried about their physical strength. davew
Slightly stronger first choice XI. Not squad. Hard to compare. But consider this, 5 Irish players are at Hull - currently a mid-table EPL team - but not one of them is a regular starter. Basically, apart from the 4 I mentioned (and John O'Shea who gets his game even if his team concedes 8) the Irish team seems to be made up of EPL squad players. I think on paper we have more football in us but wee bit worried about their physical strength. That's it in a nutshell. He must not want to hurt these guys feelings or something. Unfortuneatley for Scotland I wouldn't expect to see Sammon,Cox and McShane in the final squad. Cox is a decent player mate Problem is both MON and Trappatoni always played out on the wing ....he is a striker - he is pretty good upfront Personally id have him in the squad provided he gets played in his natural position Prob would have Ward in the squad too - although i do realise his extreme limitations as a left back - but we dont have much cover in that area at the moment Sammon.....sweet mother of god - ive no idea how he gets picked. Completely not up to this standard

Completely not up to this standard To be honest Paul Greens inclusion doesn't bother me too much as he can effectively man mark for a whole game and has a purpose when doing this. But Ward,Kelly,Mcshane are taking up squad places that could be used to blood Doherty, Kiernan and even Joe Mason.

ErsatzThistle
He may be 34, he may play in the USA but Robbie Keane can still do a feck load of damage to us. Give him a chance and he will score. 137 caps and 65 goals. Hanley and Martin have to be on top of their game against him.
