We’ve booked the 01.29 back. There’s a couple just after midnight but with game not finishing until around 11pm they will be difficult to catch

If ICE then price may climb. There should be regional trains though

My thoughts are. There are a lot of eye watering fares on some of the routes I’ve looked at around game days. The whole German rail system seems to work on looking at potential demand and days of travel. Eg Fridays look dearer than other days throughout the whole year. So day of travel could skew your price. Also if you’ve already got at least 25,000 Scotland fans all looking to get from Munich to Cologne between games in addition to normal travellers, there is no way that everyone will get on trains at the times and/or at the cheap prices that everyone would like. Some of the fares released so far are also in to the €29 and €39 price ranges. So why not buy? In addition only 2 tickets can be bought with each match ticket and you get automatic seat reservations with these. (The tickets I’ve bought in the last week with automatic reservations don’t allow you to choose your seats but allocate you an unchangeable seat). It may then be a bit more hassle for bigger groups to get organised to buy tickets and also to get everyone to sit together on the train  unless the system allows  you to book multiple Euro 2024 train tickets together in one transaction and/or allow you to choose seats.

I chose seats on my Euro 24 Ice train. I went first class though. Wonder if that’s the difference?

it was dirt cheap on our train Düsseldorf to Stuttgart on the Saturday before our game.

Staying in Augsburg , and wondering whether to head back after the match or stay a couple of hours in Munich.

Trains seem to be filling up and prices have gone up from €10 to €20 on some trains, this will probably double again nearer matchday.

I am staying in Augsburg tae, Munich was tae expensive for me- I have booked Ice train at 01.15 after match but also going to buy the Deutschlandticket so I can use over the month of June, giving me the option of S Bahn trains out of Munich if I miss the 01.15 train

I am expecting huge queue after match at Frottmaning metro but hoping German efficiency will get the metro trains moving quickly…. Looking at Bayern Munich forums, the games are all sold out & so the crowd at the metro will be the same & people indicate crowd/queue has usually gone in an hour after match.

Flight to Frankfurt arrives at 9pm.

Booked train from airport to Augsburg that leaves at around midnight/ change at Frankfurt.

Would we be able to jump into Frankfurt early, rather than hanging around the airport station?

The tickets are train specific, but only want to jump on for 10 mins  from airport and grab some food at the HBF.

Go to the regional station at the airport and get a local train to Frankfurt Hbf. Takes +/- 13 minutes.

There are quite a few places for getting something to eat, as well as a supermarket at the long-distance station, but doubt they'll be open after 9:00pm.

Friends in to Frakfurt at 6pm.  Getting the airport train direct to munchen, just over 3 hrs @ €35

Should be fine. Play the happy hooligans card and everyone will love you as a Scotland fan 😎

Rewe is closed at night. The one within Cologne airport is 24/7

I’m jetting in from Dusseldorf the night before the game now. My digs for that night are right next to the Hbf and wondered if there’s any non ticketed Scotland events on?

Approx. 6 of us be out the night before the game too not going to any ticketed event. imagine most places near marianplatz be full of Scots

Be lucky to get anywhere near Marianplatz, be full of Germans & everyone else wanting to enjoy the vibes & atmosphere leading up to the start of the euros. Was there when Aberdeen played Bayern & had a great time 👍

Am seriously just looking to head off from my place a few days before the 14th .
interested in any lift opportunities.
can accommodate those looking to go through English ports ( you’re not allowed your own ferries to Europe are you? ) a couple of hours from Harwich and Kent.

fluent German! Old English. Match day walk from their Garden

Are these part of the 36 hour travel pass or Deustchland ticket? Or neither?

ICE trains are not part of the 36-hour local transport ticket your match ticket entitles you to, nor are they part of the Deutschlandticket.

Note that your 36 hour pass will only be valid for the ticketing-region* where the match is held, so is probably limited to Bus, Tram, U-Bahn (metro), and S-Bahn (suburban rail network).  It will be valid on Regio and Regional Express trains in the area too, but make sure your destination is within if you're doing that.

.

*We don't really have an equivalent in Scotland, except maybe in Strathclyde. They're called Tarifverband in German.

This is the MVV route map, for Munich and surroundings - this is the area covered by the match ticket for the first game against Germany.

MVV Netzplan S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Regionalzug (mvv-muenchen.de)

Regional trains are part of the 36 hour travel and Deutschland ticket either. For ice you have to get extra tickets

I'm staying in Augsburg. Does the 36 hour train pass cover this journey (Augsburg-Munich)? I'm aware it doesn't include ICE trains but there are regional ones.

It does not. You can get as far out as Dasing (12 miles from Augsburg), so there’s probably a way to work it and save a few pennies, but you’re as well just paying for your train to go direct between the two cities.

Four of us in Augsburg too - quite looking forward to seeing a new German city.

Have been to Augsburg 3 or 4 times for football. Nice city, pub worth checking out is Bob's Punkrock Pizzeria & Beerbar.

Thanks for your response. I'll just book our tickets for the ICE then. Have you booked your return train for after the game ?

Have only booked our trains to Cologne and then onto Stuttgart, so nothing sorted for Augsburg-Munich. Will probably play it by ear and decide whether we want to go into Munich or not, even though that means an increased fare.

In terms of after the game, there’s a train back roughly every hour after midnight so think we’ll end up just going for a Flexpreis ticket as that allows for a bit of flexibility, though again slightly more expensive.

Take a look at the Bayern Ticket:

https://int.bahn.de/en/offers/regional/regional-day-ticket-bavaria

https://www.mvv-muenchen.de/ticketshop-preise/tickets-tageskarten/bayern-ticket/index.html

It's a day ticket for all of Bavaria. It's not valid for the ICE trains and you can use it from 9am until 3 am the next morning. You can add up to five people to this ticket and it also covers the ubahn, sbahn bus and tram services in Munich and Augsburg. 29€ for one person and 10€ after. You can get the evening ticket if you plan on coming later to Munich - that ticket is valid from 6pm to 6am

Die Bayern-Tickets gelten in S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus und Tram im MVV-Gesamtnetz sowie in den Verkehrsverbünden in Augsburg, Nürnberg, Regensburg und Würzburg.

Translation: The Bayern tickets are valid in S-Bahn, U-Bahn, bus and tram in the entire MVV network as well as in the transport associations in Augsburg, Nuremberg, Regensburg and Würzburg.

Not sure how big your group is and imagine most of the cheap train tickets are gone so this is most likely your best bet for travel.

Yeah good idea. But if you have match ticket you’ll be cheaper with just getting the ticket from Augsburg to travel zone greater Munich
