ATAC
The Association of Tartan Army Clubs (ATAC) have been discussing with the Scottish Football Association and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) the impact of the Euro 2020 Play Offs. The challenges of booking travel with 3 days notice or paying for two sets of flights when we might not need either. ATAC are trying to collect some actual facts to back up the concerns so they can be presented to FSE and potentially UEFA so lessons can be learned for the future. In order to do this we are asking supporters to complete a short survey https://www.associationoftartanarmyclubs.com/2020/03/06/play-off-survey/
ceudmilefailte
I think the question you should be asking is should the play off final be played at a pre determined neutral venue

No need for them to be four-team, that’s just a mess up they’ve made of the link between Nations League and regular qualifiers.

Good luck finding a neutral venue that would bid to host North Macedonia v Kosovo or whatever. You’d be lucky to get 2000 fans at the game. I suppose UEFA could offer big money for people to bid but why would they do that when they could just give someone an unfair advantage by having a random draw. I doubt they care about the plight of traveling fans. UEFA wouldn’t want empty stadiums for these games either.

They could still use the NL to determine the playoff spots if they are desperate to do so. Just don’t guarantee all group winners a playoff. At lest with the Kirin Cup there was an actual cup

This survey is specific to the position that we find ourselves in now. There are a number of alternatives that have been suggested for the best way to do the play offs: - neutral venue for just the final - neutral venue for each semi and final - neutral venue for all three matches (and add in a 3rd 4th play off too) - draw lots between the four competing teams to see which one will host both semis and final - treat the final as a final with an equal split of tickets regardless of where it is - keep the current format but increase away ticket allocation much higher than 5% One thing that is clear here is that this way is not great for fans of a competing team that carry a large away support. It's no different to saying the WC Trophy is only for teams that qualify for the final tournament.

You could award a playoff to the top two teams in each league that haven’t qualified. Goal difference would become very important and could potentially lead to open, high scoring games. Comparing an invitational friendly tournament like the Kirin Cup to the Nations League is ridiculous.

The Kirin Cup trophy was only available to the teams that were invited to compete in it. Theoretically, anyone can get into League A. If we win our group this year we we will get into League A with a chance of winning the trophy.

It's not great for fans of competing teams period - call it for what it is FFS.
