Eastiebeastie
Nonsense on their part, whats up with saying game v france (or whoever) is announced on date **** and we are looking at the prospect of other games. Instead they hold off for a super dooper fandabydoozy glamour announcement while the rest of us watch the prices creep up... Sounds like the SFA. Instead they hold off for a super dooper fandabydoozy glamour announcement while the rest of us watch the prices creep up... So say they did that. And you want to attend both the France game and the other, as yet unconfirmed, game. What would you do? Only book flights to and from France for the days round the 4th June? Then book flights for the (potential) game in Switzerland, when they announce that, therefore doubling your number of flights and probably costs. Or hold off until they tell you about the second game and then book one flight out and flight back and travel between the two if it was say in Switzerland as rumoured. But in the mean time those who are only wanting to go to France have booked up all the cheap flights and the prices have shot up for flights back rather than just creep up. If the second game is 29/30th may are people really going to hang around a week in Europe between 2 friendlies ? They could announce the France game if it's a definite and say another is planned for the end of May that would at least give people the option to book a return flight for that one . tartanpar
They've already said they want to play 3 games. What difference does it make who the opposition is (or isn't) until it's confirmed. At which point they'll send out an email. It's not rocket science. Did they? When did they say they will play 3 games?

If they did this and then there was no match at the end of May then there would be people complaining about that as well. The SFA policy is the best one, don't say anything until the ink is dry on the contract. I doubt the French game is confirmed yet, if it was, I'd expect the french FA to have announced it. Of course, it could be agreed 'in principle' but the SFA don't want to sign the contract until they have finalised their plans for other games. aaid
Everyone's assuming also that 4th June is the last one , they might squeeze in another one on the 7th or 8th That would be very surprising. The finals start on 10th June and I can't see any of the qualified teams wanting a game that close. I doubt the players would be that impressed either. wanderer
Starts on the 10th , but maybe a team who isn't playing till 13th or 14th might want one IIRC Northern Ireland did that a few years ago when they played games only a couple of days before the World Cup opening (but against nations who didn't qualify or the World Cup)It's possible, but highly unlikely to happen, as any offers the SFA are prepared to listen to are from the nations who will pay for them, and these are almost all the Euro qualified nations. Agreed , hard to see how we fit 3 games in without playing after the 4th june though if indeed the three games rumour is right

Or the SFA have asked the French FA to not go public with the game until both our ones are confirmed? Hence news of the French one only leaking out via the local Metz area media due to someone in the area/club telling them it was going to happen and be played in Metz. Whatever approach the SFA take, people will find some reason to moan about it. Was it not confirmed that France were playing the Czechs on the date the ITK'rs were saying we were playing them? Nope, that was someone on the wind up on here.

Where does this idea come from? I find it hard to understand why anybody would pay for the "privilege" to play against Scotland.

Rory
It's crazy what folk will complain about, then if they book up for France (if it even happens) & there is another game just a few days before they'll complain again. Only suitable way is to confirm the plans for that week all at the same time. Will not be booking until it is fully confirmed.
wanderer
Where does this idea come from? I find it hard to understand why anybody would pay for the "privilege" to play against Scotland. Belgian manager said in press last week that playing Scotland was on his want list, but our asking price was way to high. This was all before the rules were changed to allow teams to have more than one game against a fellow Euro qualified nation.
wanderer
I find it hard to believe we are in demand.....a team that couldn't even make a play off. Simply down to us being the only home nation side (plus Ireland) to not qualify and UEFAs pre-tournament stipulation that teams can only play 1 game against a nation who has qualified for Euro 2016 (this has since been changed). tartanpar
So, one team have said they wont pay. But why would any team pay us anything. I just don't get it. For all friendly games there will be fees paid, whether it be flights/hotels/tv deals or even a match fee. Scotland are probably the team most in demand out of all the non qualified teams due to us being the only non qualified British team and other teams wanting to prepare for a British team by playing us. Also with the rule about only being able to play 1 non qualified team (now changed to 2) in the months of May and June then the 24 qualified teams are very limited in picking friendly opponents of decent standard. As such we are able to ask for more than we normally would.
