wanderer
Couple of reports that the Lithuanian FA are looking to get the stadium in Kaunas up to scratch for international football in time for the WC qualifiers..... But the Lithuanian guy I spoke with said they have been getting stories like this for the last 10 years and never gets off the ground. Kaunas (the city) really got its act to when I was last there compared to my previous visit, but plan to do Vilnius this time. Robroysboy
Were FC Kaunus not owned by Vladimir Romanov ( who also owned hearts)? Last heard he was wanted in lithunia for embezzlement charges, now hiding in Moscow?

I'll admit that I also prefer Vilnius, but there's not that much between the two. Having said that, I dont have a preference for where the game is played. My in laws live in Jonava, not too far from Kaunas and the wife still has a flat in Vilnius so either is good for me. wanderer
2003 put me off Lithuania completely, and for the game in 2010 I was really against going back (going via Berlin was more of a reason for going).... Yet within 1 hour of being in Kaunas I was starting to wonder if it was the same city I was visiting from one I was at in 2003 (i have absolutely no memory of the old town in 2003, yet thought it was as good as anything Riga and Tallinn has to offer in 2010). Kaunas is a complete shithole populated by scumbags. By far the worst place I've ever been following Scotland.

Is it true that their stadium holds something like 9,000? Ballot for 9 pointers? J
