aaid
I think if she was principled, she just might. However, I'm guessing that, as an individual with obvious intelligence, she's playing the percentages. She's hoping that she will float to the top of a Labour Party (North British Branch) clearly devoid of people capable to challenge her intellectually. She would be a big fish in a small pond. Switching to the SNP, however, would make her one of many. She's playing a careerist game. And good luck to her. And of course, the fact she stood for deputy leader would tend to suggest the above. Scunnered
"One less Scottish Labour MP is" - Narrow minded, bad SNP. "I'd like us to gain as many seats as possible, but it would be encouraging to see Katy Clark returned" - Forward thinking, good SNP. Scunnered
If Katy Clark decided to join the SNP would you still support her? It would be an odd decision given she's a Marxist, but I'm voting for her despite my dislike of Labour. So yes.
Flure
It would be an odd decision given she's a Marxist, but I'm voting for her despite my dislike of Labour. So yes. Isn't inside today's Labour Party an odd place to be for a Marxist? Unless, of course, she has other plans.

phart
To be honest this belief in organizations over people is a problem. Party Politics isn't efficient, people have less trust in organizations than ever before. Although it's natural to group up in such a manner i think it should be resisted. You create mixed loyalties between the party and the constituents. Automatic conflict of interest before you've even been elected.

It would be good to see proper representative politicians who actually properly consult with the folk who elect them and then actually represent their views in parliament. Instead of them constantly trying to tell us what to think. Never going to happen though.

Yeah i was just making a general observation about the situation as a whole, party politics do create an instant conflict of interests between part and constituent. This is normally resolved as you say by MP's singing/tellling constituents lines from the old party hymm book.
