Craggers Posted November 6, 2014 Share Posted November 6, 2014 My Mate in the England Travel Club mentioned that all England fans (c. 5000 if I remember rightly) have been told by the FA that they need to collect their tickets in Glasgow on match day. A lot of them are understandably pretty p'd off. I wonder if the issue was the SFA delaying sending the tickets to London or security concerns but getting roughly 5000 to pick up tickets in a short window on match-day will be a nightmare. Venue for collection tbc seemingly. The SFA are totally incompetant, so I would not put anything past them! The pick-up will (more than likely) be at Hampden. Exglasgowasc Posted November 6, 2014 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Their ticket pick up point will be in the Merchant City area where the majority of them will be being looked after then taken on trains from Argyle Street to Dalmarnock. It's the non official ones in little groups that will be meeting up with their counterparts in Glasgow in the Brigton area that will want the watching. Not that i care. I wont be going near the game. They have a hard core element who due to thier criminal records will not be allowed to join their england club. Off the top of my head 1. I remember their games against turkey were ugly. 2. Germany WC 2006 their a section of thier fans rioted. Generally their fans are great but like Northen Ireland they do have a nasty element. How big that element is we will find out on Tuesday night. The police had thier ned element escorted from their favourite pub " the globe" to the ground in their own special train. I am sure Scotland police force will also control any misbehaviour. TartanTokyo Posted November 7, 2014 Share Posted November 7, 2014 I am not one to sensationalise but rest assured there is still an ugly element within the England travelling support, usually fuelled by club rivalry. It is just not publicised much anymore. Much like the trouble at lower league games every week. One of the lads in my team at work was in Estonia last month and he said it was horrible and shameful. Pubs trashed and large groups of fans throwing chairs and tearing the place up. 99.9% of the England fans we met in London last year were great. I personally can't verify it because I wasn't there however I have it on (very) good authority that is what happened. Do you know differently? I am fully behind the England fans who saw how we embraced half time at euro 96 and have since ditched their union jack flags in favour of the St George 's cross. There are now thousands of England fans who see the benefit of supporting their country rather than trashing it. It has taken from then until now to have that eradicated although the hooligan element still exists albeit in a much smaller scale. It is now controlled and contained. I still though think that some of he sensible Engerlund fans can and do get caught up in it. I firmly believe that that is because they can't handle alcohol.
