phart
Ohhhh feck. Is Admin4 actually a real mod or is that just a fake username that has slipped past the mods. Well you communicated with them, remember where they said they "can't recall" sending out the cease and desist letter about Rangers and locking the thread so every could move on, mind they said that never happened , yet it was there in the archives. phart
A grown man crying to the internet. Mopetastic. phart
You'll not be able to use the data protection act to remove information you've volunteered, which is everything you put on the TAMB.

Apparently that was before the current admin4's time. And I checked admin4 does appear to be part of the moderating team.
phart
You can however request the name of data controller through the DPA, see what they hold on you, the first and last name of the person who is the DPA. What happens with it, if it's passed on to anyone else and how they obtained it.
thplinth
What about that google thing and people's right to have stuff eventually forgotten. Could that be exploited by EK CElts legal team?

phart
What about that google thing and people's right to have stuff eventually forgotten. Could that be exploited by EK CElts legal team? here's "best practice" "If individuals choose to unsubscribe from your service, close an account or request that their information be deleted, it is good practice to meet these requests, or help individuals to do this themselves, as soon as possible, unless you have a compelling business need or are under a legal obligation to retain the information." Obviously the assumption is adults are actually running the site, as opposed to petty children. There is no business need or legal obligation. I can't remember my details perhaps we should all put in data requests formally, then that takes this out of the admins hands and into the actual site owners hands who might have to sit in and fill dozens of data requests. by-pass the child to a responsible adult. thplinth
Also with the mod/admins you have to bear in mind with them it is one writhing mass of incestuous name-swapping. admin4 today might be mod11 tomorrow might be mod69 you name it... The mods could ban the account but before they do replace the user name with some phrase "Deleted Account" or whatever. Given how frequently the mods delete the archives old posts are not around very long anyway.

That's why you put in a DPA pay £10 and get the name of the data controller, not their board name. This is all totally unnecessary though. Give some folk a wee bit of power and you get the "bouncer" affect (apologies to scottybigdog who is a door steward and qualified etc, and not a "bouncer"). Imagine you own this board and suddenly you're getting notices that you have 40 days to comply with 120 data requests for the TAMB. The Data controller has to fill everything out. It's totally petty but hey it's a trickledown economy here.
Admin4
of course you can here is the thread http://taboard.com/archive/index.php?showtopic=137029 Banned him in leui of a deletion, just asked and got it done. That was interesting. I suppose. If that was the policy back in 2012, it's not the policy now. The policy has changed. It is no longer seen as a method of allowing the running of the board in the way that is best. I guess (and I don't know cos I can't be bothered to check) that none of the currently active Admin/Mod team were active back in those days. But I'm not to sure. Perhaps someone who knows the identity of all of the Admin/Mod team can help the board out?
Admin4
I've read further in the thread. DPA requests, named persons, regulations, failure to comply...... This is a football message board. I'm a Scotland fan. I volunteer to do this thankless task (not that I'm looking for any thanks). I don't need this shit. I can't speak for the rest of the team - so I won't - but I'd rather see the board close down completely than have to jump through these hoops too satisfy the cravings of one self-serving attention-seeker. Or two.
thplinth
This could end badly for all. You could be forcing EK Celt to start bad mouthing google and post links to dungeon porn and goat fetish sites (again).

Because we don't delete accounts, you know. We're not daft.
thplinth
Ahhh but we are talking about banning not deleting at this point. I am pretty sure if someone really went for it you would be forced to ban them still. That is what 'you' did for peterheid scouser and as you know admin4 that is TAMB case law now and the precedent has been set by whatever tamb law lord that was sitting back then. Probably Flat Earth he was a reasonable chap, if a little grumpy.

Or two. Beautifully put, bravo. If you don't want to play by the rules don't monetize your site. Happy to collect the benefits of traffic unwilling to deal with the responsibilities. Shutting down the site is a rather drastic way of letting Ek getting his way. although shutting down the site wouldn't preclude your responsibilities under DPA, you'd still hold the data and be accountable for it. Any request received before the date is still actionable. So shutting downt he site would only satisfy Ek-celt. should really think things through. thplinth
I still think your fastest way to a 'voluntary' ban is become a prolific poster of donkey gobbling images.
