jock strap
Think you accidently got the southbound train. Easy mistake to make, you want the platform on the other side Your loyalty should be applauded big man but your confirmation to be correct at times leaves a lot to be desired IBTG

Squirrelhumper
Saltcoats takes over them Saltcoats town centre is a shitehole. Still a lovely promenade for a walk and cracking views to Arran. Only a couple of pubs I'd drink in now though.
Martin63
Stirling sounds a good shout. Yep - Stirling Castle is hard to beat. Culross is great too http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/culross/culross/index.html

Aye, it's still there - think it's more foody these days. I love Croy Bay just along the road - thought about buying one of the caravans there but it's a bit of a hike to the boozer... McVinceSCT
I just saw there are a lot of differents cruises in Loch Lomond, and differents walking roads. Would you recommend me something in particular?
ironbrew
Largs with Cumbrae with bikes is great but only with good weather and folk are reasonably fit (good view you have to go up hill). Stirling and Linlithgow good too but if you`re going to be back in Scotland again maybe better to try something more difficult. What about Loch Katrine? (Can you still hire bikes and/or do boat trip? Think I read about problems with boat recently and not sure about buses to loch). Lanark? Through to Edinburgh and new train to Borders? Dumfries? Inverarary with castle etc? Tighnabruich? Perth/Scone? Pitlochry?
Fred_Zeppelin
Ben A'an. Drive from Aberfoyle over the Duke's Pass so you can see it teasing you. Park in the car park on the right hand side of the road about 150 yards past the turning for Loch Katrine. Takes about an hour up and an hour down. You will get fantastic photos and when you're back down you can head to a pub in Aberfoyle/Callander/Back to Glasgow. You will never, ever regret doing it. Flora MaDonald
I just saw there are a lot of differents cruises in Loch Lomond, and differents walking roads. Would you recommend me something in particular? Highly recommended. The boat (think it's the Silver Merlin) takes you round the Loch and stops in a secluded island. On a nice day, there's nothing better.
Louch
Stirling then back on train to bridge of allan, chip shop as you walk into bofa is very good, and lots of cafes if you just fancy a coffee. About a two mile walk along to the monument, then the same into town towhead home ( regular busses in the route too)
McVinceSCT
Thanks for your help. Think we'll go to Loch Lomond. I'm interested by this cruise + walk, just hope weather will be good enough :-)) . http://www.cruiselochlomond.co.uk/cruises/tarbet-cruises/west-highland-way-rambler-i/
hunchy
If the weather is not that good you could always take shelter in the sea life centre there. It's not bad for a couple of hours

Armchair Bob
How much money can you spare? There's an awesome seaplane trip from Glasgow or Cameron House, Loch Lomond that flies out to the west coast and back. http://loveofscotland.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/loch-lomond-seaplanes.html Edited August 31, 2015 by Armchair Bob
McVinceSCT
Unfortunatly we won't have enough money for it, but it should be a really good trip! I think we'll go to Loch Lomond for a cruise, or somewhere like Arran, Millport or Rothesay and rent bikes. There seem to have a lot of cycling roads with differents difficulty level. I would have liked to go to a village like Anstruther but it's too hard/long going from Glasgow. Charlie Endell
Rothesay is good - I also mind getting a taxi round to the other side of Bute on a day out - sat in a beer garden overlooking a bay.
