Robroysboy
The Scotland coach's current deal runs out after the conclusion of the Euro 2016 qualification campaign in October. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33933604 Hope he stays on no matter the outcome of this campaign. the Sunnylaw Jag
Lets hope nobody like Birmingham are looking for a new manager at that time.
wembley67lisbon
Strachan isn't a bawbag like smith or Mcleish. He's done the club game. As long as we want him he will be here imo
LewisEDI
Strachan isn't a bawbag like smith or Mcleish. He's done the club game. As long as we want him he will be here imo correct. he's achieved all he can in club football. if he takes scotland to a tournament or two he will retire a content man. HIGHTOWER 1314
I am surprised the sfa havent offered the little genius a new contract yet unless he is waiting till after the qualifiers are finished.

Robroysboy
Maybe Ricky sbragia is being groomed fur the job The days of promoting from within seemed to have stopped. Craig brown was andy roxbourghs number 2. Hoping WGS will be about for the russia campaign at the least. I dont fancy mcghee. Did davy moyes not say he fancied the scotland job at some stage. Strachan has made the job more attractive, only a brave man would have took it on post leivine. It was a SOS job and if we do qualify for france, strachan should be knighted. Robroysboy
your havin a laugh brian a knighthood If we qualify for the first time since 1998, he deserves that honour. Strachan took scotland on after leviene had took us to new levels of low. We had an injury time winner against leichtenstine FFS. He has us competing again. Like you we have seen a decade of failure. We havent qualified yet, but 4 gamrs to go we are in the mix. How refreshing. Usually we are out of contention 4 games in.

wanderer
Strachan has said a number of times that he is happy to work on a rolling contract (that way he can not hold the SFA to ransome if things go bad)..... Plus said he is done with club football as he is not going to get anything better in England that he has not already been around the block with already. hunchy
Even if we don't qualify I would love to see what get his contract extended. As folk have said he has got us competing again and has built us up to play for each other. With the new crop of youngsters coming through I think he could have an even better team beyond the Euros. ParisInAKilt
Can't imagine having another manager for the next campaign, regardless of the next 4 games.

Robroysboy
Get the wee signed up and now please. I imagine if we qualify his wages will increase, would also imagine english premiership clubs will be taking an interest in him if we do qualify. I agree with previous posters that he will be more loyal than Smith or McLeish and would like to think the SFA have agreed verbally that he will continue in the role . Reagan has been quoted as feeling relaxed about the contract situation which would suggest he will continue no matter what. Ormond
The days of promoting from within seemed to have stopped. It was a SOS job and if we do qualify for france, strachan should be knighted. The only way he can go up in my estimation is if he gets offered that........ and refuses!
Brummie Hibs
He still has to manage Hibs before he retires. I'm happy to wait a few more years for that.
wanderer
Can only see Strachan leaving us for a hand full of jobs..... Man United, Leeds and Celtic, and all 3 he has no chance with. Man United will lot look that lowly for a manager.... Though he is a hero there, Strachan would probably turn down the Leeds job as he knows that is a sinking ship.... and Celtic he has nothing to prove there as he delivered during his stay there. With Smith was appointed my first thought was "he is only here until either the Rangers job becomes available or a big offer from England comes along after his time at Everton is forgotten"...... Eck was always a case of not if, but when he moves on! Yes he had won titles and been in Europe with Rangers, but he was still a young manager at the time and sure trying his luck in England was always top of his list (Eck I can actually see being reappointed as a future Scotland manager in years to come). Strachan has at least tasted success with Celtic, and has been around the block in England with teams like Coventry, Southampton and Middlesbrough, so the likes of a Birmingham or Wolves job is not going to interest him, so he is at a point in his life where the Scotland job ticks all the right boxes for him. giblet
Can see him as Director of Football at Hibees as his last job. Hopefully not for another couple of years.
jimbers
I think he actually enjoys having time to himself rather than the players day to day...
hendryselbow
When the draw came out for this campaign, qualification seemed a ridiculous notion, so even to have us in the mix for automatic qualification is an achievement in itself. Arise Sir Gord... Have any Scotland internationals ever been knighted? Fergie and Busby I dont think ever played for Scotland? Surely Christian Daily deserves one. Hopefully he would reject such a kind offer from Her Majestys Government, but it sticks that the entire England Cricket team of 2005 got one!
