irnbruman
Media keep plugging away about SNP getting 56 seats on just 4.7% of vote and that UKIP and greens got more votes than SNP yet both got many less seats. Wish someone would put them right that SNP seats were gained on percentage of Scottish votes Still jock bashing .

Caledonian Craig
No Armchair Bob it is UKIP and their voters that are disgruntled. They say three times as many people voted UKIP than SNP but they have 1 MP whilst SNP have 56.
Caledonian Craig
It is UKIP that have been pushing hard to change the FPTP system to proportional reprentation. To be fair to them I can see why they are saying it as they are only looking out for their own interests as are we.

Yes quite bizzare, so UKIP are now saying that they'd be one huge UK constituency are they? idiots for suggesting it, idiots in the media for not pointing out how idiotic UKIP are. Can't remember Farage being so passionate about the issue before they lost.

Caledonian Craig
No i think UKIP have always harped on about it and really you cant blame them. They are a new party trying to gain traction in whatever way they can and they feel proportional representation offers them that more than FPTP system and you cant argue teally with that. Swinney pretty much angled that on question time.

Don't know whether it is better not to have any UKIP in parliament, or whether to have a number of them elected so that folk can see first hand what oddballs they have unleashed. Caledonian Craig
But really are they sny more oddbslks than your run of the mill Tory or Labour MP's. I would say not.
hunchy
What gets me is until now the media has not really talked we might have talked about it but it hardly ever cropped up in the media and when it did it was quickly glossed over. All of a sudden SNP gain massively from it and its all over the media about how unfair it is and there would be change. News at 10 talked about it on 3 separate occasions that I noticed ( I could easily have missed more). I can't help feeling the anti SNP agenda will ramp up even more now and undermine whatever they say
Fat Elvis
What are the stats on a seat contested by basis per % share of vote? stats can be manipulated but am sure the snp would come out the biggest victor on that basid

If they reported the figures as vote percentage based on the constituency population where the parties actually had candidates, they would have to show a graph that has SNP with the largest percentage vote in the UK. Can you imagine the reaction if one of the tv stations did that?
Toepoke
it is UKIP and their voters that are disgruntled. They say three times as many people voted UKIP than SNP but they have 1 MP whilst SNP have 56. What they fail to mention is that the SNP had only 59 candidates, but UKIP had over 600...
EvilScotsman
The obvious solution is for all UKIP voters to move to specific areas - 'ghettoes' if you will.

Big Dod
Any party, in any system, would bite your hand off for 50% of the votes in the seats they stand in. Get real PR in, get rid of the house of lords, and we might not even need independence. People are fundimundily the same. Never going to happen in the corrupt establishment system we have though.
