zappafan Posted March 22, 2015 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Not gonna read the whole thread, but one argument ive seen loads is that Maradona is better because he guided Argenina to a World Cup, which Messi has never done. What these people fail to think of is that Maradona was at Barcelona for years and achieved a tiny, tiny fraction of the incredible achievements Messi has in his time there. He had a really bad injury for some of that time. And anyway, the Barcelona of that era bore little resemblance to what we're familiar with today. Cruyff (as a manager) changed everything. Think the argument for Maradona at club level is what he achieved at Napoli is greater than what Messi has did to date at Barcelona. It's a tough one. Sadly what Maradona did at Napoli will likely never happen again, mainly due to money. Pretty much this. Maradonna's biggest club impact was at Napoli where he wan't playing with the equivalent of Neymar, Saurez, Xavi or Inestia. Maradonna had a massive impact for club and country. Messi is just club at the moment. Plus Zidanne scored in both World Cup and Champions League Finals, for me Messi's behind those two at the moment. Give him a chance though...
