Things To Do In Glasgow On A Thursday Night

Recommended Posts

I have just found out that I am taking and bringing back my Daughters from the McBusted, nope not got a clue, concert on Thursday night.

Any suggestions for something to keep me entertained in Glasgow whilst they are at the concert.

Unfortunately going to the pub is not an option.

Agree with the cinema - go to the Quay as it's not far from the city centre and lots of parking.

Alternatively check out what bands are playing at King Tut's or the ABC.

I was gonna start one of these with a slight tangent later this year.

Girls and missus going to 1 direction at hydro and I'll have the 7 year old loon to entertain.

Staying at the hotel next to hydro, anything I could do with him? Doubt there would be much suitable for him in the cinema in the evening.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Bring your clubs and go to driving range - Great Western Road.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Anyone have any idea what time the McBusted concert is likely to finish?

That'll give me an idea about what film to go and see or whether King Tuts is a feasible idea.

According to the Hydro website - Flying Birds and Spandau Ballet gigs both finished at 10.40 pm and that's consistent with any gig that I've been to in there. Allow also time for getting out and general faffing about...probably need to pick them up around 11 pm.. The Hydro does tend to tweet running orders on the day of the gig so you could double check on the day to be sure.

I quite like playing blackjack in the casino, can generally kill a couple of hours without bursting the bank if you don't go daft.

Have been known to lose my money in 10 minutes, and still have 1hour 50 minutes to kill mind you.

The riverboat is just along the road, you probably will be playing with Chinese grannies on a week night.

Never been in a Casino in my life and wouldn't have a clue what to or not to do.

Thanks anyway.

Aye, fair enough, casinos are not as intimidating as people think, but perhaps not a place to try alone for your first time, and (I hope this isn't racist?) the old Chinese ladies aren't the most patient and understanding I've met!

Shame it's at night as the transport museum is brilliant, and I've heard the science centre is too.

If I remember correctly from last year it was between 10:30 and 11:00 when my "fares" appeared at the car though I was parked on the other side of the railway near Arnold Clark.

I collected them from the train station last time.

Couldn't remember what time that was though as I had lost the will to live by then.

Get yourself a visitor pass for one of the gyms next to the secc, virgin active or Nuffield. Go in have a wee work out and chill out.

The virgin one has a cafe and tellies with sky sports in it too. Added benefit of free car parking during the gig if your using the gym.

There was a big kick-off about that. Folk were getting done for no reason - think it's safe to park there now.

Unfortunately I am still recovering from a knee replacement operation so that rules that out.

Looks like I am meeting somebody I used to work with to catch up and watch whatever Europa League games are being shown in Droothy Neebors on Queen Street.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.

IMAX is right there and there's a movie (Chappie) at 20.30, which is meant to be quite good. South African set sci-fi with yer man who played Wolverine and Dev Patel from Slumdog. Mates who've seen it rated it so could be a nice easy option, should come out just before the gig ends.

TT

Edit to say, just read your post above, doh!

Been to the IMAX before and was impressed. Not into Sci-Fi though.

Can't believe I forgot about the IMAX - I work three buildings along the river and pop into the Starbucks at the IMAX for my coffee and cake fix!
