  1. After we played got humped in Jacksonville, I had a hire car and stayed on for a week and had a road trip to North Carolina. I took a wee detour to go to Toccoa in Georgia which is where the training camp was. Nothing much to write home about but there is a really good military museum which unsurprisingly features the "Band of Brothers" pretty heavily. Maddest thing is that they have an entire stable where men were billeted prior to D-Day that they shipped over intact from England - a nice wee video about how they did it as well. http://www.toccoahistory.com/
  2. Which isn't bad but two goals from an attacking midfielder in a team that was promoted - and would probably had won the league had they not gained automatic promotion early - isn't exactly stellar.
  3. Looking at his record for last year - he seemed to play a lot of games, no idea how many he started and how many were substitute appearances but he scored 2 league goals, which for a supposed attacking midfielder in a promotion winning team is pretty pish.
  4. Nothing whatsoever to do with bankruptcy law, it's an internal football thing, basically the authorities say if you want to start a "new" football club you have to clear the football debt of the old club. As regards the Rangers/Dundee Utd debt, my recollection is that the SFA/SPFL were insisting that Newco Rangers pay the money that Oldco Rangers owed Dundee United. That's fair enough and is pretty standard, however the SPFL also "owed" money to Oldco Rangers which they wouldn't pay to Newco, who understandably told them to do one and pay Dundee United form the money the league owed them. It wasn't a case of the League paying off Dundee United because Rangers couldn't.
  5. As far as debt in football is concerned, money owed to other clubs is about as secure as it gets. National Associations, FIFA and UEFA are pretty strict on clubs not paying transfer fees. Even clubs that go into administration or liquidation have to agree to clear "football" debt before all else. I'd imagine that in a case where a player is transferred and the buying club goes bust - and completely folds - then the player's registration would revert back to the selling club. You've got to really ask what is the market for a player like Jamie Murphy, a 28 year old, no better than average Championship level player. The answer is probably pretty much Rangers. It just looks to me that the buying club have a bit more leverage than the selling club. I'm not suggesting that Brighton are "desperate" to sell him but more likely they just want to get him off the books and Rangers are probably the only interested party. None of this is to suggest that Rangers are awash with cash or don't have financial challenges, I suspect that Brighton are having to go along with a deal structured to Rangers' benefit as they don't have much of an option.
  6. On the surface - the devil of course will be in the detail - this looks like a better deal for Rangers than if it was a straightforwards transfer. They have the benefit of the player for six months "on approval". If he works out then they can make the transfer permanent at the previously agreed fee. The fact it's described as an initial loan suggests to me that there will be an opportunity for Rangers to pull out should he not work out at the end of the loan. If it was just a case of deferring the transfer payment for six months because Rangers were short of cash then they would have put it through as a transfer but with a deferred payment schedule - that's pretty much standard in football transfers.

    SSC Renewals

I think you've answered your own question there Martin.
  8. At that age - and given his level of fitness - it's probably more likely to be something congenital than lifestyle related.
  9. An interesting question of no real relevance but are the Sinn Fein "MPs" officially recognised as MPs if they don't take the oath and sit in parliament? AFAIK, they are entitled to certain expenses but not their salaries.
  10. It's all in the bible, all you've got to do is jumble the words up a bit.
  11. I've been drinking the sugar free stuff for years. On the very odd occasion I have a "full fat" one, I couldn't tell the difference if I'm being honest.
  12. I was in Chester a few months ago but for the football rather than the racing. There's a Holiday Inn Express right next to the racecourse, which is where we stayed. Some decent boozers in the town as well.
  13. Exactly, nothing at all wrong with a bit of satire and ripping the pish out of politicians. The only thing is that it should be either insightful and cutting or funny - preferably both - but sadly this was neither.
  14. In that case, never meet your fantasy figures in real life.
  15. Pete Zazuppa was often likened to a young Russell Crowe, mainly by himself it has to be said. He no longer lives in Manhattan.
  16. No Trump but I think I did pretty well in the rest - not that it's that difficult to predict.
  17. Crap Trump, crap Brendan Rogers, some pish sketch that still has Perdo Caixinha as manager of Rangers even though he was sacked months ago. Oh and Frank "Frankie Boy" "Macca" McAvennie even though the last time he was on TV was probably last year's OAE.
  18. Its not so much about whether or not he watched some porn nine years ago but more that he lied about it. If he'd said something like "this was all investigated at the time, nothing was found and this ex-policeman has a personal grudge against me" then it would have been embarrassing for him but he would probably have been able to ride it out. But he chose to lie by saying that he wasn't made aware that porn was found - and he got caught out for that - and that was what pretty much made his position untenable. From that point on he would always be subject to accusations about "well you lied about that, how do we know you're telling the truth now".
  19. Interesting polling from Panelbase commissioned by Wings Over Scotland with a slightly different Indy/EU question. Independent Scotland as part of the EU - 49% Remaining part of the U.K. out of the EU -51% Maybe being in the EU isn't the big turn off for Yes voters that people go on about - of course it pays to consider exactly who it is that goes on about remaining in the EU being a big problem for the Yes movement. https://wingsoverscotland.com/anybodys-game/
  20. His latest YouTube video is a bit of a cracker as well. what a complete ring piece.
  21. The Pro-Independence Parties have a majority. The largest party is one of the Unionist parties. Rajoy's party came last. To compare in Holyrood terms. Labour are the largest party but the SNP and Greens have a majority between them, Ruth Davidson has finished behind even Willie Rennie.
