scottincarlisle
I am not sure how to approach this game as a spectator, will it be less stressful being half jaked or stone cold sober? My nerves are going to be shot to bits either way!
radian_13
Scotland have proved for years that we just don't have the bottle or big mentalities to deal with pressure. Ireland will lose both games then we'll play well but lose to Poland and finish 4th. After yet another bottling performance in Georgia I'll keep supporting but until i see a big performance and result ie beat Poland at home, i'll stop expecting anything from our national team. Toepoke
Why the f*** do we always leave ourselves in situations with 3 games to go when we are analysing multiple spreadsheets with every permutation of results possible and we still fail? What's wrong with doing it right, winning all games and ensuring our own qualification with a couple of games to spare? Probably coz we're not very good... Robroysboy
will we win a play off?? nope Are we capable of beating a team like Turkey over a 2-leg play off ? Yes, but it would be very difficult. The only thing we have in our favour is that we would be under dogs, a non-seeded team and we all know we play at our best when we are given that tag. Put us in as favourites against Goergia, well we all know how that ended.

Gord of course. i actually think we will draw that game and Ireland will lose. then we gotta PRAY that poland actually beat Ireland while we smash Garbralta

irish
I still think it's 50/50 between us and yourselves. Scotland have proven they can beat teams like Poland before. Even if we somehow fluke a draw at home to Germany it'll be useless if you win. A draw for you and a probable loss for us (The Germany team is a completely different proposition to the one we played away) won't be the disaster some of you seem to think it will be as Poland would be favourites to beat us in Warsaw. Not clear but still favourites.
DoonTheSlope
I'm afraid I can't see it anymore. Not only are we relying on other results going our way but we'd then have 2 play off games to get through as well

Not only are we relying on other results going our way but we'd then have 2 play off games to get through as well In terms of the bit in bold . That was always our ace in the hole. How dare you take that away from us you Scottish ##### Tbh I'd be delighted with a playoff spot myself irrespective whether my team qualifies or not. I'd imagine most on here would happily give Strachan another chance if Scotland got to a playoff but lost given the fact ye were 4th seeds and in a tight group. O'Neill will probably get the bullet if we don't at least make the playoffs

Not clear but still favourites. Just doing the maths, Scotland would be on 12 if they drew with poland and Ireland would stay on 15 if they were beat by Germany. A win in Gibraltar for Scotland in Faro against Gib and a defeat for ireland in warsaw would put us level on 15 points and Scotland would qualify due to better head to head. Never considered that scenario- cheers irish. Always though Maloney's goal at parkhead could be crucial. Toepoke
Why would Ireland play out a goalless shotless draw when a win would get them automatic qualification? They would have a bit of a dilemma where there's a different outcome for each result. If they were to go all out for a win and get caught with a sucker punch they'd be eliminated... If they were to go all out for a win and get caught with a sucker punch they'd be eliminated...If we beat Germany or ye lose to Poland. ....we will be going for a win in Poland. ....even with MON as our manager. It won't be all out attack from kick off....but we will try get the win.Equally if ye don't lose to Poland and we lose to germany....our approach in Poland will be much more measured and careful....which is understandable due to what's at stake Edited September 21, 2015 by Green_Tide_Rising
