newtownards
I've never had a Scottish note refused anywhere in England or Wales for decades. In case of emergency, carry Danske Bank notes to add further annoyance if they refuse to accept Scot notes. They never go down well in England but I've never had a problem spending them here. Never had any issue in London/Manchester with with NI bank notes..... they seem well used to them.
Flora MaDonald
Like I said..... its irrelevant to my original post..... Someone thought the oil in the North Sea had something to do with someone walking away without paying for icecream. The vendor nicked our oil, Shed TA nicked his ice-cream - it's very simple. iainmac1
I don't believe this story. Jim is obviously making it up. Maybe there is a connection with being called Jim and lieing?

giblet
Remember being in Lincoln in an overpriced cheese shop being refused. I made a point of arguing for a good 5 minutes holding up the large queue until they relented.

Ex-Whitfield
I've given up trying to pay with Scottish notes down here. It's just not worth the hassle. Had many a stand off with a retailer who refuses to take it and I have nothing else. I save them up now and use them in the self service tills at the supermarket or for my subs at the football - heh heh.
Hertsscot
To me it's just another little thing that undermines all the rhetoric about being one family, the fact that any time you try to spend Scottish bank notes down here you have to be prepared for a potential argument.
