Hamilton V Dundee Utd

Recommended Posts

It's a Monday night, on TV in the middle of January.

There's more than 150. Let's not exaggerate here.

That said, I thought they'd have more.

Hamilton's only an hour from Dundee, and United are conceivably challenging at the top of the league.

I realise that people don't like to hear this, but if Scottish football is going to make some kind of recovery at some point, then eventually people are going to have to start going to games.

United have a decent team, they deserve better support than the few that have bothered to follow them there (if there's more than 200 I'll buy you beer for a year).

And that's not going to happen if a game is live on TV on a Monday night in January. When folk are skint after Christmas why on earth would they go and sit in a freezing cold ground when they can watch it from the warmth of their living room. I'm all for Monday and Friday night TV games but they need to involve local teams and be on when the weather's better.

You'd have to average 80mph to do Dundee to Hamilton in an hour!

It's a Monday night, the game's on TV, there was some doubt today as to whether it would go ahead and it's bitterly cold. Having said all that I was surprised at the DUFC turnout; I thought they'd bring more. They obviously don't have as big a Central Belt contingent as AFC :wink2: .

I look forward to that beer!

We've got Dundee away next midweek. We'll take 200 at a push.

I'll be there though

You're a bit like me. When I lived in Scotland I never missed a Dons game for years, through good and bad, home and away, weekend or midweek. There are still plenty of people out there like that...just not enough.

I agree completely. But if United win tonight (and they've just scored again) they go within 1 point of Celtic and 5 of Aberdeen. It's probably as close as they've been to the top of the league at this point in time in around 30 years.

Surely that deserves a better support, even if it is live on TV ?

Disclaimer ; I realise I'm beating a solitary drum over this...ho hum.

Haha.

If you're at RP in April you can get me a pint before the game.

Gladly...I must owe you about a dozen. :ok:

In the meantime, I at the very least like to make some attempt to pay my debts....I've made a donation to the Sunshine Appeal in place of buying you lager for 12 months...hopefully that's OK... :wink2:

Oooof. Goal...

No! Freezing your baws off is an important part of the Scottish football experience.

Obviously not, given the attendance tonight. Play the same game in June or July and there would be at least double that number there. Thistle v Dundee Utd had nearly 8000, including a sizeable away support on an August Friday night at the start of last season.
