WeLuvIrnBru
Just to add Republic of Ireland Act 1948 did not change the name of the state as prescribed in the Constitution the name of this State is "Ireland" and is so prescribed by Article 4 of the Constitution. Anyway Gordon Strachan names his squad tomorrow any surprises ahead? He's already named his squad. Lewis McLeod was a surprise, but pretty much as expected for the rest of the squad. I welcome return for Bardsley in to replace the injured Hutton.

Either way The Republic of Ireland wasn't "created by FIFA in 1953" like you said earlier, it was created by the Irish state in 1948. Bardsley's back in the squad, no one really knows why he wasn't in previous ones - we don't have strength in depth at either full back position. Lewis McLeod of Rangers is a bit of a surprise, but expect him to get nowhere near playing - its just something Strachan likes to do. Pick a different youngster for 1 match for the experience and see how they get on.

Edit: look at greenforever's post a couple of days ago, there are others also. Anyway it looks like the SFA have warned us not to enter the home section in colours, should be interesting! mariokempes56
Anyway it looks like the SFA have warned us not to enter the home section in colours, should be interesting! Really ? I did as did others seriously question the SFA's gross incompetence over this whole process. They should and could have offered 6-7000 and then (as is normal) refused away fans in home end. Its been like that for ages. And IF there was to be any trouble the SFA would be in the shit. Nothing to do with the Irish lads. Is this them back-tracking now ? 1ANDYP
The Belgians brought 9000 but they got a decent allocation and then got extra in the main stand at hampden. Don't know why they gave you so little. I have yet to see an away fan in amongst us at home games though as most don't bring that many
Irishandproud
Fai ask for 10% allocation, SFA say off. Fai screw loyal fans with the allocation so there's a panic for tickets SFA release tickets in batches causing another panic among irish fans meaning we are scattered all over the stadium. Sfa pocket a load of cash from the ticket sales which wouldn't have been bought by the scots cos of the treatment of the fans over ticket prices. SFA then decide to email all irish buyers that they risk being thrown out of home section which could have gone to irish in first place had they not acted the maggot over amount allocated. All sounds pretty reasonable to me..... Edited November 5, 2014 by Irishandproud

Away fans are never (obviously an odd exception - in a friendly a few perhaps) in the home ends. Against France a family of 4 were escorted out of North and I assume put into spaces in the away section. You can do that with a dozen or so - not a a few thousand. Dave78
Are we going to a football match or some sort of Irish historical event Friday week - this place is an eye opener! I suggest everyone meets up in George Square post-match to debate this out. We'll start with Free-staters versus Nordies, segue effortlessly into Scottish nationalists versus Scottish unionists, then finish with a grand-finale free-for-all. Helen can run buses to the local hospitals, and do the catering. In the end, peace and bonhomie will break out as we all agree it's all the English's fault.
